Discussion: NBC Host To Sanders: Your Take On Superdelegates Is A Bit 'Hypocritical'

Just outta curiosity, what’s Sanders’ prescription for prostate health? I hadn’t heard anything about that…

OT, but speaking of the ICC, my fervent hope is that, should Trump win the presidency, Obama signs the USA on as a member state of the ICC before he leaves office. Trump has clearly stated that he intends to commit war crimes and he should be held accountable to the ICC since the US seems to just ignore it when its leaders have committed war crimes in the past.

Are those of us in this thread who are pointing out that Bern’s SD argument is hypocritical,as Chuck Todd did, wrong on that?

It’s so incestuous. George Will’s wife makes money as a campaign advisor, Paul Ryan’s wife is a lobbyist. And I can go on and on.

There is an “Establishment” in the world of politics, and it’s not just elected officials, but these permanent hangers-on who do not face the public, do not face term limits, and are not accountable.

The term “establishment Democrats” is the new pejorative for Sanders supporters who won’t face the reality that they are in the minority.

“and he should be held accountable to the ICC since the US seems to just ignore it when its leaders have committed war crimes in the past.”

That’s rich, Trump prosecuted to future war crimes while Obama has a documented seven year history of international war crimes in six different sovereign nations. But it’s okay, 'cause Obama.

We have detailed policy papers from Clinton outlining just how she intends not to even reach for the goals the 46% support. The 46% want a $15.00 minimum wage. To make her establishment base happy Hillary says she is for $12.00. The 46% say they want help with their college loans or a way to get out of college without a mountain of unforgivable debt, Hillary comes out with a policy paper with so many provisos that only a Philadelphia lawyer would love. A lot of people want to move to single payer, long Hillary’s goal and goal of nearly all long time Democrats, and we get “we are going to protect the ACA, that’s good enough.” The only people happy about that are the nice people in the health insurance business.

Simple truth, politicians compromise after an election, not before. When you announce your compromises before the election, people rightly conclude you don’t really want to do a thing. That is the real reason a very unlikely candidate like Bernie has done as well as he has.

The Democratic party should come out of its bunker and start representing regular Americans again, not just a handful of single issue groups, as important as their issues might be. We can do both.

That’s right, baby! And I bet he lights his cigars with $100 bills and on Mother’s Day and anniversaries he showers Michelle with conflict diamonds purchased from murderous warlords.

“Yes, he’s an SOB but he’s our SOB!”.

EDIT: Yeah, now I’m just messing with you, Darcy.

Politicians “compromise”, as you put it, all the time, and especially in a campaign season.

I think I’d heard about the wives as lobbyists, but didn’t know it was so pervasive and stealthy. Further Googling tells me about Ginni Thomas and Linda Daschle. Yet, people seems to focus on the influence Greenspan may or may not have on Mitchell. Slightly related is Matthews’s wife running but losing for the MD Senate seat. D.C.'s obviously a company town where there’s just one industry.

Well, one industry with two flavors: legal prostitution, aka politics, and the illegal but respectable kind.

The don’t make compromise the centerpiece of their campaign unless they actually intend to do nothing.

Going from $7.25 an hour to $12 an hour – while supporting $15 an hour in high-cost-of-living areas such as LA and New Yorrk – is not good enough?

A detailed proposal that uses federal funds as an incentive for colleges and universities to seriously examine the underlying causes of soaring tuition.

No, not just protect the ACA, but to build upon it, with a possible Medicare buy-in, an ability for Medicare to negotiate drug prices, etc.

Yeah, the insurance companies are so happy, that the nation’s largest insurer – United Health – recently announced they will drop out of the exchanges.

The Bernie Sanders holdouts should come out of their bunkers and pick a side.

Seems that you have missed the target ----

Is there a reason you deflected to a Hillary focus ? ? It may tend to cause the interested to question why you seem to refuse the need to discuss ANY of Sanders’ deficiencies —

True, and it occurs even far from the national halls of power. I know spouses of local news anchors that work PR and get paid to get their clients on their spouse’s TV news shows.

Was a Bernie fan and hoped he might win but have no problems with Hillary once she secures the nomination. Very disappointed now with Bernie and his “burn down the house” mentality…Ashamed I ever supported and gave money to this man.

This jerk is doing everything he can to undermine Clinton for the general election and hand the presidency to Trump. Now he is shouting far and wide that she can’t beat Trump – only to further himself – which is just music to Trump’s ears. There is a lot more than his take on super delegates that demonstrates Bernie is a fraud.

Trump and Bernie – the angry, white male’s revenge.

Bernie is so behind the times he hasn’t noticed that the angry, white male vote isn’t winning presidential elections any more.

Some progressive.

Here is a basic fact that you may not like. The United States of America is a Republic with an economic system that is based upon capitalism. Not socialism, not communism, but capitalism. The vast majority of Americans like the economic system that we have, despite its flaws. The vast majority of Americans do not want to live in a country based upon socialism or communism. And they vote that way. They are not going to vote for some angry little finger-wagging socialist who is looking to overturn the fundamental economic system of their country. They just aren’t going to do that, especially because a very minority group of basically little snotty-nosed brats with ZERO life experience are angry because they have been bamboozled by the propaganda promoting some backbench Congressman of few accomplishments in life and a couple of political operatives with axes to grind and money to make.

I never overestimate the wisdom of the American voter, but trust me on this. All the rhetoric on “change” is a bunch of crap, and when it comes down to what the average voter does in their voting booth, your little angry man and his minions are not going to be the choice of the majority. You can count on that. Bet on it.

No need to feel ashamed. Bernie’s message and his focus on issues of importance to many people inspired a lot of us. But now we need to turn that energy into action and not allow ourselves to be defeated.

Just like Occupy Wall Street, despite their many failings, they did succeed in getting a message out. Now it’s up to us to continue the fight.
