Yeah , yeah, yeah, could we have some of the documents you subpoenaed, please ?
and what about the tax-filings ? ( I know itâs not Nadlerâs commitee, but too much vapourware now)
Alas, I think heâs wrong about this. If the media hasnât been explaining why taking stolen goods from a fence isnât wrong and a bad idea for our country, this isnât going to change the conversation.
Muellerâs Public Hearing Will Have A âProfound Impactâ
Or Not
Weâll see
Youâll find out .
Iâm sorry but Barr successfully derailed Mueller as planned .
Unless there is some dramatic statement implicating the President it will be more âRead the reportâ
Just like the press conference
The 5th estate dropped the ball on this one
no doubt it will and I look forward to it.
Quick list of questions for Mueller NOT in the report:
-
Did you consider Trumpâs prior financial dealings as a predicate for an unspoken alliance between his campaign and Russian meddling? If not, why not?
-
Did you present the evidence of Don Jr.'s preparations to conspire with the Russians via the Trump Tower meeting to a grand jury for a possible indictment? If not, why not?
-
If a president canât be charged with a crime while in office, and you decided that meant you couldnât assert he committed a crime, and the executive branch controlled the investigation, exactly what is the point of having a special counsel operate under executive branch control to reach the truth? What if the AG had just decided NOT to release the report at all?
-
What do you think Deputy AG Rosenstein meant when he told Trump that he could âland the planeâ with respect to your investigation to convince Trump not to fire him? Is it reasonable to infer that he meant that he had your investigation boxed in and/or controlled via your commitment NOT to suggest the president committed a crime even if thatâs what the evidence suggested?
The Republicans loved Robert Mueller, a Republican, before they hated him. One wonders why. /s
Democrats in the committees need to ensure Mueller does most of the talking. No grandstanding. No speeches. Just ask questions. Let the Trump GOP cultists on the committees sound like idiots all by themselves.
If this happens, Nadlerâs prediction will be accurate and Muellerâs key testimony can begin the impeachment process.
I wonder if Trump will âhave toâ watch and live-tweet the âboringâ Mueller testimony because itâs his âjob.â
I hope they ask him why he permitted Trump to not sit for an in person interview and accepted his written responses of ânot recallingâ any details of anything. Did he believe he didnât have the mandate to push for answers from the main subject of the investigation?
Nevertheless, if played properly by the Dems I do think this will be an impactful testimony.
For 2 years the GOP has claimed the FISA court had no idea who steele was ectâŚIt makes no sense not to have the FISA court judges testify 1st to establish that the warrants were not gained thru deception bit rather based on the obvious fraud and lies of manafort, flynn and carter page who announced to everyone he represented the kremlin for !@#@! sake.
It will have almost zero impact. (Still, it should be done.)
Something tells me Barr will have something âprofoundâ to say immediately before the hearing and immediately after the hearing to keep the conversation on the AG and not on what Mueller actually says. Either that or Trump will do stupid shit throughout to move the news cycle right on past the hearing.
Thatâs the way to go, JerryâŚhawk itâŚsell itâŚ
You are not talking to doomsdayers on TPM.
You are talking to people whose attention is going to be on wrapping up Summer Vacation plans and wondering about the NFL Pre-Season.
I do not have the ability to read Muellerâs mindâŚbut stepping back and looking at the narrative over the last several weeks (the narrative which has included Trump looking for Russian help, Trump saber-rattling on Iran, Trumpâs thug A.G. Barr making Thug Moves) I am judging that substantial information will be forthcoming.
Information which may even drown out talk about the Patriots repeating
Democrats need to quit setting high expectations for anything regarding Mueller. This is starting to be like a political version of Lucy and the Football - lots of probability of nothing profound happening. Nadler should just say âweâre going to talk to himâ and leave it at that. No expectations up front⌠then if something âprofoundâ comes out of it, so much the better. Stop setting high expectations that have a slim chance of coming through, please.
Thanks, @callmeeric
It is interesting to see so much confident âit willâ and âit wonâtâ within just the first comments. We canât know until it happens, obviously. It might, if done right, and if Mueller is mad enough about Barrâs spin. And I profoundly hope it will, despite whatever the chaos-sowers will dream up to distract, and despite the protestations from within the Democratic Party.
Whether itâs this or something else, we do need something to happen besides process and speculation.
Gimme a break.
His report has been out for weeks, to the inattention of a lazy public, even given the comic book form (!!!), an audio book, and now a star-studded reading that merely confirms my suspicion that people would rather be amused to death.
As Lisa Simpson said, âOh, itâs hopeless. Utterly, utterly hopeless.â
Sorry to say, but House Dems are looking like Sideshow Bob, constantly stepping on rakes to the face.
