And there will be crickets when it comes to any condemnation, but heaven help anyone say boo re:Jews.

If Omar tweets about this, I’m sure the AIPAC/Trump lobby will be calling for her censure and removal.

C’mon Matt. Jackson Lee and Johnson were not challenging Abu-Salha. They were setting him up to denounce violence in any form and for any reason.

As a species, we’re not really as advanced as we like to think.

They only needed one to do that, it just gives more credence to the Klines of this world.

But he is the victim, his children were murdered. Why was it necessary for him to denounce violence, as the victims of a violent act? Were all the white people testifying asked to speak on behalf of all white people or their respective religion?

@padfoot is clearly running the snark meter on this, good job, as he’s already gotten a couple with it!

Why is the father of the murdered hate crime victims the one expected to be renouncing violence?

“I was trained in medical school by Jewish professors,” Abu-Salha said. “I have Jewish friends. My son has best friends who are Jewish. The Jewish community came to our rescue and we had an interfaith night after the New Zealand massacre. But I find it troubling that Mr. Klein turned this conversation into almost an Islamophobic conversation, when I’m talking about my tragedy and my loss as a Muslim.”

The last paragraph is very powerful, but I also think it was just one word too long…

I’ll bet the Khan family sent Dr. Mohammad Abu-Salha and his family appropriate condolences.

I am DISGUSTED AND DISMAYED that this blatantly religious inquisition of a distinguished physician and victim of violence that was undoubtedly inspired at least in part by anti-Muslim hatred, was carried on in my name, and by people purportedly masquerading as “Democrats.”
There should be no place for this in our country.

I would have asked the President of the Zionist organization if he thought it was OK for the Old Testament to order the extermination of various people like the Canaanites and the Amalekites?

As long as AIPAC and by extension Bibi own large swaths of Congress, good luck with that.

ETA: and since nobody is allowed to even bring the subject up, because it involves money, and thus is instantly denounced at all levels as being antisemitic… Well, the chances of reducing their influence is substantially more challenging.

"So by the very fact of being Muslim, you are not filling children, or those in the mosque, with hatefulness?”

Nope, but the very act of being a Muslim sure fills the GOPers and their white Christian nationalist neofascist-wannabe base with hatefulness.

WTholyF is this all about? These PEOPLE in Congress should KNOW better. Where the hell were THEY raised? I was raised in AMERICA in a Christian church to respect ALL faiths. We talked, we interacted, we commiserated. What is THIS all about? I am ashamed that the 'critters are so ignorant.

It was estimated – as far back as 1897 – that 56 million (!) have been sacrificed on the altar of Christianity:

“1,000,000 perished during the early Arian schism; 1,000,000 during the Carthaginian struggle; 7,000,000 during the Saracen slaughters. In Spain 5,000,000 perished during the eight Crusades; 2,000,000 of Saxons and Scandinavians lost their lives in opposing the introduction of the blessings of Christianity. 1,000,000 were destroyed in the Holy (?) Wars against the Netherlands, Albigenses, Waldenses, and Huguenots. 30,000,000 Mexicans and Peruvians were slaughtered ere they could be convinced of the beauties (?) of the Christian creed. 9,000,000 were burned for witchcraft.”

(Not even sure that total includes The Inquisition and pogroms.)

Just sayin’…

Because…let me translate the first 3 hours of the hearing for you:

“But didn’t they deserve it?”

“Why do you claim they didn’t deserve it?”

“What makes you think they didn’t deserve it?”

“Could you explain to the country why they didn’t deserve it?”

“All I’m asking sir, is whether your religion means your children deserved to die. Please answer the question.”

“Ok ok, I understand, but are you SUUURE they didn’t deserve it?”

“I think they deserved it.”

“Thank you, Mr. Klein. You raise a good point. Sir, lots of Jews think your children deserved it. Why do you feel that you are right and Jews are wrong?”

“Let’s try another tack here: do you admit that you caused your children’s deaths by raising them Muslim?”

and so on and so forth…

Disgusting. These people were openly engaging in the exact bigotry they accuse all Muslims of. They’ve been trained to believe that Islam is an invasion disguised as religion and will attack anyone who disagrees. They say this all the time, but the media refuse to understand that they believe this all literally.

It’s just like how they define “liberal” to mean “people who hate America” and insist we started hating them first. Similarly, “Muslim” means “people who hate non-Muslims.” Any liberal or Muslim who claims otherwise is trained to lie, while only the extremists will tell the truth. But if they grill us enough, we’ll finally admit that we’re the evil villain hypocrite liars, just like Limbaugh and their preacher said all along.
