Itâs going to be interesting days ahead
So, if McConnell remains inflexible about the schedule, will they vote no on Saturday (or Monday)?
Kabow!
There goes the push to get it done before the response/feedback/pressure grows.
This certainly implies that the Rethugs on th Committee have not done their âdue diligenceâ. Really? They have. They have heard from Trump and the right wing, "we want this guy. Thatâs all Grassley and friends need.
I always thought that Murkowski was the key! My guess was that Flake knew her views (they met yesterday) and decided at the last moment (perhaps as a result of the woman confronting him) that he could not railroad the process.
At this point, Mitch has to delay. Great news.
I assume that, putting themselves on the line like that, their vote is NO, unless/until the investigation is completed. Flake canât just say, oh, no investigation, I guess I have to vote yes. Oh waitâŚ
âSen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) said Friday that she supported Sen. Jeff Flake (R-AZ)âs proposal to delay Brett Kavanaughâs confirmation vote by a week to allow the FBI to investigate sexual assault allegations against him.â
So who, exactly, is gonna order the FBI to investigate?
Trump?!
I think itâs telling that it was Murkowski, not the feckless Collins, that was first to step up and support Jeffy Fake.
Imho, it looks like Collins is in the bag, no matter what; only Murkowski and JF are âpotentialâ repugnican defectors.
Yes kabow. And womp womp too.
But seriously, isnât it astonishing that something as simple as a pause to investigate credible claims has to be such a struggle?
McTurtle wonât hold a vote if it doesnât succeed.
Letâs hope Kavanaugh wants to spend more time with his family and withdraws. A FBI investigation threatens his current, not just the nomination.
Maybe Mueller has a few people he can spare for a week
I guess Kavanaugh had better order a few more kegs to get him through next week.
What the fuck
He wonât want to, thatâs for sure. But I donât see how he can say no. The alternative is the real possibility that his nominee gets voted down.
Not that thatâs something he can figure out for himself. But someone will tell him.
While the base will be outraged, Flake might have saved the Republican Party. Lots of red flags and loose ends with Kavanaugh. That July 1st gathering at Timmyâs is starting to look like the date and scene of the crime.
I really donât know what the Rs were thinking. If Kavanaugh was appointed only to be arrested for attempted rape, that would pretty much be the end of them. At least with a cursory investigation they can use the FBI as cover from any blowback.
I can also assume the ABA had something to do with this.
Wait. Who said this?!
Speaking to reporters at the White House after the committee vote, Trump said he would defer to Senate leaders on how to proceed with his nominee. âWhatever they think is necessary is okay,â Trump said. âThey have to do what they think is right.â
Could be wrong here, but i believe Charles Asshat (r-io) has the authority to âorderâ such an investigation.
Well, they will have an investigation. Someone will tell the FBI to do it. The vulnerable GOPers told the freaking majority that they need a fig leaf to cover their butts if they are to vote YES on Kavanaugh before the elections. The next week will be an epic try to water down what happened yesterday. And the FBI investigation (lasting the entire 30 seconds) will say in final document âgiven the time we had, we couldnât find anythingâ. And then they all vote yes.
In one word: sham. Itâs been done in every would be dictatorship in the world. Over and over. Yawn.
