Flake wants to be a “post-trump” politician at some point, or get an “honorable” (aka high playing) job in the bowels of the republican influence operation, Murkowski has to contend with the Alaska politics (the Native Americans strongly opposed KAV) plus is basically honorable, if very, very conservative. Neither can vote to confirm if the Republicans vote to railroad.
And were I Collins (or frankly Gardner (CO) or Tillis (NC), both of which have big targets on their backs) or Joni Earnst (who is not so popular in Iowa) I would want a delay. NO way you want to vote to railroad Kav and have it come back to bite you in what will likely be a very difficult presidential year.

Never happen. Kavanaugh’s been groomed for the Court his entire career. His keepers in the Koch Oligarch Network have been promising it to him for 30 years. And he fuckin’ deserves it! He went to Georgetown Prep! He did everything right! These uppity bitches need to get the fuck out of his way and let him do his job!!!1!
Every new barrier that rises to meet him will only stoke his anger and sense of entitlement. If they actually send him to prison, he’ll have to be sedated 24/7 to keep him from demanding to be seated on the Court.

It certainly was reported that they conferred post-hearing, but i didn’t see/hear any reporting that they’d formed some “pact”, as you’ve indicated.
So, anyone think it’s possible Kav would withdraw if it looks like a real investigation will happen?

I agree that Collins was “in the bag” she is a hack. However, I don’t see her ever voting to confirm w/o an investigation if Murkowski and Flake want one, and if either at the end of the day votes “NO” on Kavanaugh, I don’t see she is a Yes. She is really vulnerable on a Yes vote if any other republicans vote no.
Collins is ultimately a coward.

According to Politico reporter Burgess Everett, Manchin, Collins, Murkowski and Sen. Joe Donnelly, R-IN, are all expected to vote the same way but that whether the vote is yea or nay isn’t known.
Good grief. I just noticed the paper listed Donnelly as an R. Why do journalists frequently make that mistake?
