So, either Manafort dies in jail (more likely, as Trump will never keep his “word” regarding any hypothetical pardon) or Trump does (less likely, if Manafort spills everything he knows, and avoids a faceful of Novichok).

My guess is Mueller obtained sealed indictments on more than one of these folks already, knowing that Rosenstein would not always be the DOJ Official overseeing the investigation.

I’d say more like probably. It fits the timeline, and looks an awful lot like a trap Mueller set for both of them.
OT, but JFC could they be more obvious about it literally being their go-to counterargument strategy to fabricate/manufacture the “bothsiderism” the MSM helps them sell?..

You have to know at this point that this was “assigned” to him as his task in helping protect Trump from his blatant profiteering off the Presidency and his constant violations of the Emoluments Clause, even though attempting an analogy between Trump’s behavior and the Clintons creating a foundation and making bank on speaking fees AFTER leaving the WH is like comparing apples to dildos.
Not confirmed if Donnie just repeated the lies, but if he already had proof that Manafort was lying, then Donnie repeating the lies just drops Donnie into the same sewer - which would be neat!
Say, as an example, Mueller’s folks asked Manafort if he’d ever met with Assange, and he said "“Absolutely not, never!”, and they’ve already got copies of the British surveillance tapes showing Manafort entering the Ecuadorian embassy - well, that would be “awkward”.
Now, assume they’d asked Donnie if he was aware of any contacts between Manafort and Assange, and he answers “Bigly NO!”. But, they have those Michael Cohen tapes, and on one of them Donnie is explaining to Cohen that his upcoming trip to Italy is a follow-up (or is it a precursor, I’m too lazy to check the various dates) to Manafort meeting Assange? Well, wouldn’t that be precious?
So, we don’t know anything specific yet, but the prospects are leading to a fair amount of happy dancing around the net right now.

Trump: Mueller must disclose how many of the Manafort lies he is familiar with. There are so many many lies and Manafort cant be expected to rebut them all. It’s unconstitutional to withhold this information.
I’m withholding on any dancing, yet. I want to be an optimist, I REALLY do, and some days I am, but I’m not going to rest easy until Trump is in handcuffs. I can’t shake the feeling that they have a plan. I mean, I would never have tried a scheme like this without a plan. Could they really have been so stupid as to do this without a strategy for the end game? Angry tweets about Mueller and his gang of angry Democrats aren’t actually a plan; they aren’t going to save his fat, orange ass. Does he not have a plan to escape the consequences of his crimes? Was he so stupid that he thought having an Attorney General was all he needed to prevent being prosecuted for all this graft?
I am willing to accept that Trump’s an idiot, but a freaking earth-worm, even a particularly dumb earth-worm, would not having gotten himself into this spot without a scheme to get out. That’s the shoe I’m waiting for.
That said, I’ve checked my schedule. Friday would be a great day for a pile of indictments to be delivered. So, if Mueller should ask, tell him I’m good with Friday. This Friday. Or tomorrow. Or, this afternoon. Whatever.
