Um, maybe next time ask questions before you shoot, huh, MSNBC?

That was a truly terrible tweet, but it should not be a career-ender. Especially when there are some on the right who use incidents like this to conjure a lynch-mob atmosphere as a way to protect child molesters and sexual predators.

Good, we all need a be better about context and nuance when people make comments.

and we understand the point Sam was trying to make in that tweet was actually in line with our values, even though the language was not,”

Which for some reason, we were unable to understand before our viewers clued us the fuck in.

Sometimes you get one wrong?

Maybe. If the definition of “sometimes” is “more often than not”.

Not getting his point there, not to mention ever taking Cernovich seriously, is pretty bad, like Jim Hoft-level bad. There is sarcasm on the intertubes. One must come to grips with this situation.

Sam Sanders? I always thought Seder was one of the great lesser known voices, in progressive opinion, but Sam Sanders?

I fixed the comment head, maybe someone will notice. The TPM headline writer is having an unusually bad week.

Too much crazy. Would wear anyone out. It’s like Lucy and Ethel in the candy factory.

OK. So they made a mistake. But this is something to CHEER about.

It’s actually courageous to admit a mistake and to reverse such a public decision. MSNBC deserves praise for this. So I wish commenters here weren’t being so hard on them at this point.

Good article in Vox yesterday about this, BTW. I wonder whether how much that specific article influenced this, or whether it was more of a groundswell, social media type thing. Any ideas?

The American Left had best get a clue. Its goody-two-shoes schtick is being used against them by crafty wingnuts and GOP pundits. Get over it Lefties. Your job isn’t to “portray a self-image” as some clown said on AM TV this morning its to make America a better place for Americans. If you play by all the rules against folks that just play by the ones they like your fucking toast.

This is good news. But this episode is another example of how we are too unhinged or purposefully disconnected from reality to use sarcasm and satire successfully any longer. It has to be followed with a notification.

Dildo O’Reilly: Now I will be back too! God loves me.

Too much crazy. Would wear anyone out. It’s like Lucy and Ethel in the candy factory.

Shoot: I’m so obsessed with the scandal-a-minute/one-outrage-overshadowing-the-last Trump/GOP Washington that one of these days I’m going to walk out of my house in my underwear — because I forgot to put on the rest of my clothes while listening to the latest Slate Trumpcast and reading a WaPo story on my iPhone. Plus, there’s the necessary self medication. Headlines, shmedlines. Just don’t let me operate any heavy equipment for the next three years and 44 days.

So right wing trolls can get a person fired for an out of context tweet, but liberals can’t prevent a child molester from getting elected the senate or a sexual predator from the white house. In the mean time Franken will resign, and Farenthold’s taxpayer bribe to his accusers won’t cost him a thing.

Liberals REALLY need to seriously take a look at how well the right wing can push any narrative they want on the public discourse and push the left around while suffering no consequences for their side for the same stuff.

Meh, it is what it is… can’t escape the fact that society has become polarized for years, and now people are definitely oversensitive and paranoid about these things. Dems have been pretty dumb all around so I’m not sure why they’d get a clue… it is only because Republicans are so awful that Dems look marginally better by comparison.

Oh man do I hear you. I’ve already had to kind of have an intervention with myself in the early months just to make sure I didn’t hurt my health. I’ll need to go to Phase Two—how, I’m not sure—to survive and flourish personally long-term. It’s a near-paradox in how you have to take it seriously intellectually and yet cope somehow emotionally. Someone just took me to task for calling the wingnuts “lame” on another thread and I just blasted him because I am so, so past caring about their feelings, you know?

Why is it terrible? It was a pretty spot-on take-down of those who decry sexual predators on the one hand, yet defend Polanski on the other. Brilliant satire, if you ask me.
