“I don’t care what we did.”

That, in a nutshell, is why America is less great.

That’s unfair. Wallace was assigned to Palin by the McCain campaign. According to Game Change, she early on concluded that Palin was unqualified for the job and became one of her sharpest critics during the campaign and thereafter.

I happen to believe that Wallace is normally a thoughtful right of center analyst. However, her statement that she “doesn’t care” what we did in the name of preventing another attack is deeply troubling. Under that theory, the difference between the ISIS approach to operations and ours isn’t wide enough to hold a razor blade.

“What else did we do to make sure that 3,000 people weren’t blown out, obliterated on a New York City morning?” Wallace said. “I don’t care what we did.”

Actually, your boss didn’t do a darn thing to prevent that one.

“But the notion that what we do affects terrorists is a lie. It’s a lie perpetrated by political correctness and liberals, and it’s dangerous.”

If there’s nothing we can do, then why torture?

P.S. Hopefully there will be more coverage of the torture report forthcoming TPM?

In my mind there is no possible way a female Republican is “thoughtful.”

Nor does she seem to care about the consequences of what we did (and will probably pay for for decades to come).

And another pasty gop bag face of hate scrolls before us declaring not to care how many of the ‘other’ we kill or torture here or in the ME!

Causing the ME to explode with violence …She is just a asinine example of the ignorance and arrogance of the right!

How about if your former boss had actually READ his August 2001 PDB?!

Yes she did and to my mind, they are two of a kind–self-righteous, simple-minded prima donas without an ounce of humanity. That said, she is also a screeching empty head

And, apparently, Scarface blowhard preferred G W Bush’s carpet bombing of Iraq kill hundreds at a time to selective drone strikes. All things Bush are beautiful to the reptilian brains on the right.

I don’t agree with her but, she’s just one of those folks that believes the ends justifies the means, that her ends are the right ends, so anything we do to get to them is ok. If we kill or hurt an innocent an person we’ll be forgiven by her god and that person’s fate is in the hands of her god and her god, being all knowing, will do the right for that person.

No self respecting professional interrogator has come forward to endorse these procedures. Good interrogators, like good magicians and good bridge players, make it look easy. They get what they want without the drama and pain. Unfortunately, the media is way too stupid to, um, interview professional interrogators.

It is what the Bushies didn’t do that is the biggest problem. They let the attack happen in the first place and they always conveniently skip right past that little nugget.
The war that ensued was just a convenience to go for the oil that Big Dick wanted. The waterboarding, massive rape and genocide of the Arab world was all just fruit of the poison tree.

Their guilt, the neo-cons that is, and destruction of American values began long before the waterboarding and far beyond.

Septialism - The belief that it is all about 7?

Maybe we should add Noveundecimalism for Rudy!

So, by her logic, if she doesn’t care what we did then, she doesn’t care what we do going forward and any/all human rights can be thrown out? There are no limits to what we can do whenever we want?

As far as I’m concerned, America’s “greatness” isn’t even the issue here. That’s just some right-wing strawman that gets trotted out periodically to defend the indefensible.

To me, it’s whether or not as Americans we care enough about torturing other people, regardless of the circumstances which brings them about, and keep our souls/humanity in the process. I don’t think it’s possible to do both and I honestly believe that a majority of Americans would echo her sentiments.
