Hope those places ain’t asking the government for handouts to recover… Government is bad…
Conservatives only complain about government benefits that OTHER people get, because they think they’d get even more benefits if only liberals weren’t ruining everything by giving benefits to the “wrong” people.
They all want better healthcare, education, and a safety net in case things go wrong; which is why many of them join the military. They just don’t want OTHER people to have these things and don’t understand why they should have to share because they get all their news from rightwing billionaires and still haven’t noticed.
Well I’ll be off shortly to go walk by the Meramec River which enters the Mississippi River south of St. Louis City. Yesterday there was flooding on the middle of the walking trail. The Meramec River has been full but not flooding as of yesterday. When the Missouri River and upper Mississippi River flood it causes a backup into the Meramec, but I haven’t yet seen the Meramec flowing up stream.
Two days ago my Congresswoman was complaining about the National Flood Insurance Program, and how it needs to be fixed. Too bad she hasn’t sat on the Financial Services Committee since 2013. It’s not like we haven’t had 2 major floods, nor 3 minor flooding incidents since she’s been in office.
> Hundreds of people remained out of their homes in Nebraska, but rivers there were starting to recede. The National Weather Service said the Elkhorn River remained at major flood stage but was dropping. It was expected to dip back below flood stage by Tuesday. U.S. 30 reopened near Arlington on Saturday.
Im sorry to tell you folks your Senator has sold his credibility completely down the river as he supported Trump’ nonemergent emergency on the border. You’ll probably have to make do with his “thoughts and prayers”.
Boy, it must burn having a Senator who lacks understanding of what comprises an actual emergency, as well as not understanding the Constitution Article I powers.
2 feet (0.6 meter) above the record set in 2011.
So those “hundred year floods” are coming a couple times a decade now. Warm seas evaporate more water; warm atmosphere holds more moisture.
Not a Senator. The illustrious Deb Fischer also voted to support the mythical emergency. Ignoring her contribution is just so sexist. ![]()
It’s really the work of the evil GALAXY organization, reformed by the Chinese after Our Man Flint dispatched the original.
Yup. I was always amazed, having worked in and around the military, at how many people were happy to be proud Conservatives, and how we needed smaller government and people shouldn’t rely on the government for any assistance…
All while delivering 17 kids on the government dime, running the clock out until their guaranteed life-long pension after 20 years, and living under the most socialized healthcare system (TRICARE) on the planet, which also kicks in life-long after 20 years and retirement…
Iowa = 6 electoral college votes
That’s the extent of my concern.
And more moisture in the air means more snow in the winter, which means bigger floods in spring.
You’re right. I focused on Sasse because he’s such a hypocrite, feeling free to lecture us about his rectitude, when he’s nothing more than a sniveling politician.
What the hell does he think he’s doing there? “If you look at my hand and then over to the left you can clearly see how high one of the ice bits is sitting but there’s one on top that’s even higher but my hand only goes up this high.”

Sasse is remarkably empty headed in a party of empty heads.
Singling out Sasser for special criticism is entirely reasonable as he had been pretending to have some independence from Trump. We now now it was just an act.
I am a farmer in Missouri and we haven’t started calving yet. Take a minute or two and watch this video. They may all be Republicans but it still breaks my heart to see this! Courtenay DeHoff TV
“The flooding is blamed on at least two deaths.”
Really? They angered the River God?
The joking and not caring about the victims of the flood because they’re in a very red state is inappropriate. Even in the reddest of red counties, there are people who are not Republicans. Say, for instance, immigrants working agricultural and other low-wage jobs.
Nobody doesn’t care about the flood victims. We’re just dripping with cynicism and the irony that the same people who continually decry big Government handouts and want lower taxes are the same people who are the first running to get a government handout when shit goes down.
BTW, none of those immigrant laborers will receive a dime. It’ll all go to the landowners.
Repugs can’t breathe underwater either. I worry about everybody. It’s going to be this kind of spring all over - there has been a tremendous amount of snow dumped late in the season.
Showing that he’s a man of the (flooded out) people. (and pledging fealty to the sacred ice heap?)
