I didn’t watch the video, but his rhetoric, as reported in the article, seems almost resigned. For someone like him–someone who fashions himself as being a conservative Christian’s version of the Church Militant–to be saying, in effect, “Que sera, sera” sounds like a preemptive strike on a disappointing (for him) result tomorrow.
Not entirely coincidentally, I’m sure, it also positions himself, in case of a loss, to say that God wills that we as a nation must wander in the Wilderness yet longer until we fully merit His blessings. Straight up Cotton Mather stuff, that is.
