Discussion: Mom Of 'Affluenza' Teen Arrives In US After Mexico Deportation

My first reaction was that it was an accidental photo of Carrot Top as well.

…which is exactly what people so frequently say about Ann Coulter. Look, a great many people can’t or don’t want to bother to achieve Ken and Barbie heteronormative “good looks” even without being part of the GLBT (or more specifically, transgender, as I am) community. What’s reprehensible about this Couch woman, and about Coulter, is behavior and political beliefs. Attacking their appearance is cheap and easy and uncomfortably close to Trump mocking the physical disability of the newspaper journalist.

I think you can leave all the heteronormativity out of it. She looks like Carrot Top in that picture. End of story.

Proves money can’t buy beauty…is that you carrot top? I didn’t know you had a transgender operation?

Have it done in Mexico, did ya?

I always have to look up heteronormative. When I saw the photo I didn’t immediately think of Carot Top, but when it was brought up, I laughed. It’s funny. I don’t see how that is mocking, and it certainly doesn’t approach Trumpian dimensians. She looks like Carot Top, and you sound like a prig.

I never have to look up prig.

Interesting. In one of your previous comments, you had a bit to say about Caitlyn Jenner, Mary Cheney and Log Cabin Republicans. Isn’t the presumption that all members of the LGBTQQF community be Democrats homopoliticonormative?

The implication in the affluenza verdict is that the parents were to blame. Now, the justice system gets a chance to punish mommy the enabler. I’d love to see her do some hard time, as a deterrence to other moms tempted to do the same.

As for the boy, my understanding is he can only do 4 month as a juvenile. But next time he violates, he will be an adult. I’ll bet he’s doing hard time within a year.

But could you imagine some gang banger using the same defense? Raised by parents with criminal backgrounds and no respect for the law, so he thought drug dealing was normal so he should not be held accountable? In Texas, they’d put him and his lawyer in jail. Yet people argue there is no such thing as white privilege.

ASDT: nothing but a diversion and too clever by half. And to the previous poster, while the situation in contemporary society is that poking fun at people with physical disabilities is beyond the pale–a “politically incorrect” inconvenience for today’s paleos–the LGBT community still seems to be fair game for some folks. And seeing that you know what “prig” means, you probably also know the meaning of “insensitive.”

It is important to keep in mind, despite the temptation to mock, that the wealthy have earned every penny they have, and more, through brains and hard work. They are, simply, better people than we are. Every penny of wages we think we have earned is more a blessing bestowed upon us by our smarter, harder-working betters.

So, mock at your own risk. When the Great Galting comes, you will be left with nothing but mockery.

Gonna mock anyway, but thanks for the warning. I’m poor, so I mock. It helps a lot.

“Some people are so poor, all they have is money”, as memorialized by Patrick Meagher and others seems apropos. Real richness flows from depths of the soul, of one is fortunate.

Oh lighten up. It’s this kind of tsk tsk whiny bullshit that gives liberals a bad name. Besides, mommy affluenza was quite brilliant in “Mask”

I admit it, I’m a terrible person - before I read the headline, I thought it was Carrot Top, too, maybe one of those ‘dangers of drug use’ stories…

Like CNR, Carrot Top is an actual performer, yes. (CNR was a working comedian and an actor, even well after his Match Game days.) Carrot Top’s act was - 20 years ago when I caught him at my college - prop-comedy. He’d tell some outrageous story with the help of visual aids, and then grab a few plush honey bees and say, ‘believe me’ - toss a plush doll across the stage - ‘no, really, bee-leave me!’ and toss the other… things like that.

I can’t say that I’ve caught his act recently, so… he may have actually gotten funny.

I must be missing something here. What LGBT person is being mocked by any poster?

She probably enjoys the title, Mrs. Affluenza. She certainly isn’t Miss America.

A little self realization and introspect is what should be happening with these two right now. They are on the wrong side of affluence and it is hurting them and those around them. This timeout in jail could be used to see the light and to have a come to Jesus moment.
As in Scrooged. They could finally see the error in their ways and decide to do good and be helpful. Doubtful, I know, but if it is ever going to happen, it would most likely be now.

BTW, what will the new defense be? Idiotism, stupido, arrogancia, privilegeista, what?

According to her lawyer, mom claims she has broken no laws. The court in Fort Worth has already set her bail at $1,000,000 cash, and mom will be required to wear a GPS monitoring device if she posts the bail. Will also have to report daily, tracking device on any car, curfew, all kinds of stipulations.

Hotel employee: ‘Affluenza’ teen racked up a strip club bar tab in Mexico and his mom had to pay it

Bail is understandable but eventually she’ll face the law and then her affluence will have to create some new and expensive reasoning for her defense.

The fact that her precious son is alone in Mexico with who knows what happening to him and she will be wearing an ankle bracelet completely out of style for the season has really got to be chapping her hide.
Hopefully there are a drug and alcohol stipulations as well. Sobriety could be quite the wake up call for her.

One of the standard stipulations in Texas is “Shall not associate with any known criminals.” Will be interesting to see if they apply this to contact with her son.
