Discussion: Mnuchin Implies Dems Trying To 'Weaponize' IRS Against Trump With Tax Return Request

This has been the law since Teapot Dome approximately 1924. I think the weaponization has existed for long enough that it could have been repealed if it was used vindictively. I am quite certain that the law would have been trotted out against Obama by the GOP if he had not released his returns… but that would not have been a problem… right.

I suspect there is more than a dash of psychological projection behind his comments.

Fuck these guys. If he or others interfere with or obstruct the production, they should be prosecuted by the next Democratic Administration. I understand there is a five-year prison term for obstructing production.

That’s weaponization, Shitstain. And in your case it’s necessary.

Sorry for the profanity but this is infuriating. :rage:

It’s amazing the lengths they’ll go to hide that the President is a Thousandaire…

So if Trump’s tax returns can be used as a “weapon” against him… I’m guessing there’s some pretty incriminating stuff contained therein.

I feel for him, I have been terrorized by a weaponized police department. They hide behind bushes to catch me running red lights, they try to search your car, they take your medication, etc.

“I feel a responsibility that we get this right and that the IRS does not become weaponized like it was under the Nixon administration.”

Um… wasn’t it Nixon who “weaponized” the IRS under the Nixon administration? Congress only proved that Nixon wasn’t paying his taxes. That’s not weaponizing, that’s just upholding the law.

Oh please. They already weaponized the IRS by targeting blue states for tax increases…it wasn’t even subtle. We haven’t had to use the law because most candidates do the right thing and release their taxes.

Only the Trump loons can call following the law some kind of a punishment for them.

Obama Birth Certificate vs Dotard Tax Returns…

Mnuchin wouldn’t be saying such ridiculous things if he thought the law was on his side. It isn’t and it’s not ambiguous in any way. If he doesn’t comply, lock him up. At least until Trump Pardons him.

And we never did get that Kenyan birth certificate, so they’re right to be withholding Trump’s tax returns.

The law is absolutely clear on this. There’s no discretion involved. And arguably the famous tape was the last defense but it was the stonewalling, the constant stonewalling of the obviously guilty Nixon that led to his resignation.

I’ll settle for Donnie’s Russian tax returns…

I feel for them. When you’re used to violating the law as easily as drawing a breath, it can be quite the hardship to, all of a sudden, face accountability.

They’re in one of the annexes to the Mueller Report that Barr is busy shredding and working with the russians to do hits on everyone who had anything to do with making the report, so that its contents can never be known.

To be fair, it only says that the returns “shall” be turned over.

“Over my dead body” is simply negotiations about when they will be sent.

Yeah. Maybe they are. So what? Stable Genius has weaponized the government against the American people. So follow what’s left of the rule of law and release his tax returns you deplorable ghoul.

Not at all. He’s weaponized it against Blue-Staters, immigrants and brown people, not Real Americans.
