Discussion: Mitt Romney Officially Launches Utah Senate Bid

I have mixed feelings on mittens. I guess in a state where a progressive can likely never get elected in our lifetime he’s not the worst thing that can happen.

Remember back when we thought Mittens was so maladroit, so ignorant of foreign policy matters and so untrustworthy that the idea of him in the White House would be about the most awful thing imaginable?

I miss those days.

Before Trump set the new standard, Mittens was the biggest liar I’d ever seen. No a single moral in his entire body.

He is a perfect representative for the Republicans.

Oh, good, because the one thing we need in the U.S. Senate is another old, rich, white man. Especially one with zero experience in politics, other than losing an election.

And Cheney?

Romney was governor of Massachusetts.

I stand corrected. He still does not belong in the Senate, imho. I don’t live in Utah, so I ultimately have no say in the matter. And thanks for the reminder, didn’t he sign into law some kind of government health care? Maybe that will stop the yahoos from voting for him.

If you can get him to admit it now.

In 2016, Mitt thought about voting Libertarian

He considered voting for the Libertarian ticket of former Republican Governors Gary Johnson and William Weld, saying that he would “get to know Gary Johnson better and see if he’s someone who I could end up voting for”, adding that "if Bill Weld were at the top of the ticket, it would be very easy for me to vote for Bill Weld for president."

In Oct., 2016, he rented his supporters list to the McMullin camp.

Though I disagree with the majority of his stances, it says a lot that Shelby knew how to make his opinion known.

So yea, good luck Mitt, but this notion of Mitt being greater than Hatch or a Trump critic even, i’ll take a pass.

I can’t believe he was touting Utah’s balanced budget as a selling point.

Every state—except Vermont—is required by its constitution to have a balanced budget.

He’ll be better than Orrin Hatch, but that’s being damned by faint praise no matter how you look at it.

Is this the Utah value he’s planning to bring to Washington? Good to know Utah is Number One!
