Trumplestiltskin tweet demanding player suspensions to follow about 30 minutes after Faux News airs this.
Good for the players who kneeled! And kudos for their coaches support.
One side loves America and shows their respect for our values by kneeling, while the other side are/were literally traitors to America. Guess which side gets criticized?
So can we infer that that folks who stayed standing didnât mind the Confederate rally?
Wait for itâŚ
a trumplandia rally and an american protest.
thank you to the kneeling players and the supportive coaches.
Thank you Mississippi. I kneel with you.
Place your bets now, SEC will suspendâŚhow dare they insult âour heritageââŚ
It may be difficult for Trump to condemn the student athletes. To do so he would have to also condemn the rallies that were going on outside the arena. Heâs not going to do that (he never has). And he knows to condemn the players without doing so for the white nationalists outside would only draw attention to his strategy to never condemn that (large) portion of his base.
Itâs time to strip these treasonous confederate monuments down all over America!
Theyâre coming down in Dallas. There has been pushback but weâre going ahead.
Ole Miss wants to have it both ways. It wants to appeal to a diverse student and faculty AND it doesnât want to piss off wealthy alumni and parents whose views lean toward white supremacy.
I hope the students who kneeled remember that the school had a Confederate soldier statue on campus up until 2017. It got removed only because it got rammed by a drunk driver and it was cheaper to take it down than repair it.
White and black students fought the night Obama won re-election. A group of white students has petitioned for the return of the old Colonel Reb mascot. Others lament that the marching band doesnât play âDixieâ anymore.
There may not be any overt hate groups on campus, but the school wonât let go of its past because it doesnât want to piss off racists.
Robert Kraft gets a pass from Trump. These guys will get grief from him.
Of course. Trumpâs calling him up and saying, âDude, really? You got some for $200? I had to pay $130K for mine.â
Iâm not sure any kind of inference needs be drawn. The players who knelt spoke for and about what they themselves value after doing so, and their coaching staff spoke up as well. (I happen to believe they are right to have done so.)The people who didnât kneel can speak for themselves.
Some jackass has written a book about how âleftiesâ have ruined sports. He says Colin Kaepernick (sp?) was kneeling for âno known reasonâ and that because Republicans also buy sneakers players should shut up and play. I ainât a-gonna link to it.
Iâm glad to see these courageous young people doing their civic duty, both inside and outside the arena. And yes, I echo the response that those KKK-ers are traitors.
Good for them. Glad they found a constructive way to signal their dissent. What a horrible thing to have to endure shortly before a game.
Iâm not at all clear why anyone has a problem with kneeling for the anthem. We kneel all the time in church, so whatâs the big deal? Thatâs a (former) Catholic reference in my case, but many churches do this and most folks associate kneeling with prayer, soâŚwtf?
Of course itâs not really the kneeling thatâs the problem now, is it?
Weâre doomed as a society unless young people stand up (in this case, kneel down) for tolerance and decency. Contrast these young menâs behavior with the smirkers from Covington Catholic HS.
