Discussion: Mike Pompeo Secretly Met With North Korea's Kim Jong Un Weeks Ago

Mike;
Do you feel Lucky Punk?
Ol’ Kim may be playin’ you
He will never give up nukes
It’s his insurance and what causes people to pay attention to the little tinpot

How do people think this will affect Trump’s approval ratings?

I supported Obama when he decided to take a different approach to Cuba. The old approach had been proven inadequate.

So in theory I support a new approach to NK.

Unfortunately Trump and company have proven to be bad a pretty much everything they do.

This makes me nervous because Trumps other pressures(like Russia investigation) could drive him to make moves to distract. This could manifest in taking a bad deal for a “win” on something, or making a move militarily to change the subject a create a “wartime presidency”

Are any of the five locations not Trump properties? Got to keep the dollars rolling in.

Pompeo was a partisan hack as a congressman. He lent himself to Donald Trump’s attempts to lock down and squelch the Russia Treason Investigation and prematurely exonerate Trump by declaring he was not personally himself under investigation. And he is carrying Trump’s water still as he will continue to do as Secretary of State.

Meanwhile back at the ranch, the other treasonous operators of the Russia-GOP Alliance are demanding evidence from an ongoing DOJ-FBI investigation, so they can fire Rosenstein when he refuses to turn over said evidence. Like Sharks, the Deep State Right Never Sleeps.

This isn’t diplomacy. It’s like kids playacting at diplomacy. It’s crudely done theater. NoKo’s been dancing around this way since the early '90s and developing their nuke program the whole time. They know Trump’s desperate to seem like a real president. So they’ll make a few vague offers and he’ll give them the recognition he already has plus God knows what else and trumpet his singular triumph as an historic peacemaker. They’ve played real-life smart, tough negotiators many times before, and now here comes the world’s biggest patsy. It’s no contest.

I was reading an article similar to this on Yahoo and the commenters were crowing that Trump made things happen by not taking shit and the other side knowing that they would pay if they crossed him.

I was thinking let’s not celebrate before he’s accomplished anything and wondering whether they were listening to Trump’s twitter feed or what he did in real life. Because he’s a tin can in reality.

Feels like a ploy to help Pompeo get his new job.

This administration is so inept. Why is trump sending a CIA director to speak with Kim? Who’s next, Ivanka? I mean, why would you not have someone with experience handling these matters? I already know the answer: because this administration doesnt know what the fuck they are doing.

OT regarding high roller Scott Pruitt:

The SUV he had from the last head was not big enough so he leased a newer & bigger SUV that also has Kevlar seat covers. That’s right, bullet proof seat covers.
The olld lease is still in effect for approximately $6700 per year. The new SUV that is more worthy of king Pruitt is10k per year.
Guess who’s footing the bill?

I’ve been trying to figure out why Kim Jong Un is suddenly so willing to talk to the US, after years of him and his father being less than communicative.

“Could it really be that Trump’s tough talk forced him to the table?”

Then it hit me. For all the negatives one could discuss about NoKo’s leader, one thing has been pretty consistent - he’s a good poker player. He never shows his cards or even hints what he has in his hand. Using that analogy, this summit makes sense. He can tell that Trump is a poor player, a bad bluffer, that he’s got a shit hand. Kim is doing what any good player does, he’s getting his opponent to put more money on the table before he swoops in and wipes him out.

For the first time ever, NoKo has a sucker on the other side of the table. This is their chance to get everything they want, while giving up very little.

Why is this even news? We knew about the plans for a meeting with the North and someone high level has to plan it. This is a total nothingburger.

Agreed. He may not get a positive vote out of the Foreign Relations Committee, so he needs a “win.”

I just don’t understand who the fuck this guy is hiding from! Who the hell did he fuck over so badly that he needs castle walls & a moat to hide from??? This is some super special power up Mario Brothers mushroom shit right here. WTF is really going on? The paranoia is strong in this one.

The key to resolving the issues in the Korean Peninsula is reunification. Peaceful reunification would solve all other issues. And there is some potential for this now -more so than at any other time.

Pompeo -

Dunno – something is stinky, or is it just me?.

Actually, I hope he doesn’t get confirmed. On the other hand, he has now reached out to Hillary and to Kerry to help him get confirmed. Something is ajar with this in my brain…dunno what. :worried:

On what planet?

Kim wants to keep total control. North Korea is not about to become a free society.

South Korea is a free society. South Korea is not about to submit to to total control.

Several reporters have opined that this was an approved or “sanctioned leak”, because it was way too easily confirmed way too quickly
