The rule will now favor only rustic caucasians…
Betting on old rural whites may help in the short run. In the long run, not so good.
That’s probably a good call unless they had an excess of tax money they felt the need to get rid of and figured litigation costs were their best route.
Sen. Mike Shirkey (R-Clarklake), told the Associated Press on Monday that he is working on a new draft set to be unveiled this week that does not include the controversial, county-based exemption
I can understand wingnut frustration with their elected officials, they get elected to a) advance the cause of white people and b) screw the colored people. Shirkey managed to get a bill that did both, only to wuss out because who knows why, is not like nobody was going to notice what he was doing and of course there was going to get pushback. But he should learn from Trump, throw some insults at opponents, call the people affected by your plan “animals”, say some unbelievable lies and push forward, is not like the people from his district are going to vote democrat.
“GOP-controlled states are moving forward with similar plans to shield rural, high-unemployment, majority-white counties from the brunt of the Medicaid work requirements.”
But “rural, high-unemployment, majority-white counties” don’t exist anymore.
Not since Trump single-handedly created all those high-paying jobs manufacturing coal-powered smartphones.
They could modify the plan to use townships instead of counties, but that wouldn’t have the intended result.
Yeah, but fortunately it turns out all those coal-powered smartphone jobs are in China - “Making Asia Great Again!”
Being from metro Detroit I’d heard about this and am glad it won’t go anywhere. (Unless the R’s get into the majority again this fall, then I’ll bet it rises faster than Lazarus on Viagra.)
But my off-topic question to folks here is, is it just me or is it about impossible to stay up-to-date on national, state, and local government? It’s all I can do to keep up on the criminals in charge in D.C. I have little time left to keep up with the poisoners in Lansing. So I have essentially no time for the antique we have as mayor here in Warren.
How do you do it?
Brown is the new black.
Medicaid perpetuates people in poverty by forcing them to carefully limit their hours, forego marriage, work for cash on the side, write off all their daily living expenses against their small businesses, or engage in any number of other strategies to avoid making too much money. States that rejected the Medicaid expansion of Obamacare in particular, have Medicaid roles which are already full of slaves to their health insurance, forever kept in poverty.
He hit back at the legal experts who characterized his bill as a form of “racial redlining,” complaining that some people “tend to view everything in the world through the filter of racism.”
Interesting how the proposals of these supposedly race-blind conservatives always seem to favor whites…
Does seem to be a dead end bet.
You’re right, it’s a job to try to monitor all of the antics of those who would govern us. The Richmond Times-Dispatch has recently implemented and interesting strategy for survival of a local paper in a newspaper-hostile world and swapped the placement (and emphasis) of state and local vs. national and international news. Now the state and local news all goes in the front section; national and international in section 2. I was skeptical this would really make any difference, but I have been greatly impressed with the extent of the coverage the paper now gives to state and local news.
So now I read the local paper mostly for state and local news, and I get the national and international news mostly from NPR and MSNBC. But I admit, I am paying a bit less attention to what his happening nationally and internationally than I used to – mostly because I don’t feel there is much I can do about it anyway, and also because it tends to be repetitive and very depressing. (Trump lies, Trump spikes another Obama-era reform, Trump attacks FBI/DOJ, Supreme Court deals another blow to civil rights, worker rights, etc. Lather, rinse, repeat.)
‘complaining that some people “tend to view everything in the world through the filter of racism.”’
Have you ever noticed that the only people who ever say things like that are racists?
DeVos money has helped make Michigan what it is today. Dick lost his bid for governor, but he’s made up for it with gerrymandering a democratic state.
Note that he’s already said that 83 counties is way too many jurisdictions to keep track of, so this will be his excuse for not doing it to include cities. Because, y’know, importing the metropolitan-level data into a spreadsheet once a month would take at least a few minutes.
Business opportunity of a lifetime: setting up a chain of schools in Mexico to teach Russian language.
Don’t hesitate. The opportunity goes away when comrade Trumpp does.
The manufacture of those coal-powered smartphones has been put on indefinite hold, pending the outcome of a civil soot.
“Clap! Clap! Clap!”
/“sniff”/ That was beautiful…
