Love, Love, Love her!
If you can watch her entire speech and not shed a tear, I don’t want to know. She is a masterful speaker who has a lot to say and that’s what she did today. I’m sure we’ll be seeing her future accomplishments for years.
So fortunate to have seen this live.
I always knew that she and Barack were classy intelligent adults.
When viewed side by side with the next occupant they become almost Godly.
God I’m tearing up and I haven’t even watched the her speech.
FLOTUS: “Don’t be afraid.”
“The strength and power of despotism consists wholly in the fear of resistance.” – Thomas Paine
She and Barack are true, true leaders. They make you want to be your best self, and never give up or be paralyzed by fear. They inspire you. And in time that spirit becomes part of you. And that’s what love is. They’re certainly the strongest force in my own mind arguing that we should hope and strive to keep the idea of this country burning in the dark.
Maybe in 4 years she’ll run. The US will be in even a deeper hole and faster free fall than Dubya left it, but maybe she can pull us up like her hubby did.
And yet there are plenty of bigots rejoicing that they will be gone from the White House in 2 weeks…
She leaves the way she served–with class and dignity unlike any woman I’ve ever seen or any of her predecessors in my lifetime.
Also, she leaves behind a perfect speech for Melaria to plagiarize in a couple of years.
She embodies the country I want to continue to belong to.
I am going to miss both of them SO much!!!
She would be a hard act to follow, no matter who would be coming in. That a cardboard cutout Barbie doll is her successor just makes me ill, although perhaps Melania is smart enough to know that she will be a sad, insipid shadow and that is why she is staying away from DC. She might actually have to do something other than her nails, hair and wardrobe.
I will miss this charming, resolute, brilliant woman so much. She and her family have been one of the best part of the last eight years.
Sorry, hard time typing now, something in my eyes…
Smart, classy, accomplished, dedicated, a great sense of humor and style….the list goes on and on. She will be so missed.
Trump voters are going to love this speech when Melania recites it.
“Thank you for everything you do for our kids, and for our country. Being your first lady has been the greatest honor of my life, and I hope I’ve made you proud.”
Thank you for all you’ve done and the inspiration you are. It has been an honor having you as our First Lady and President Obama as our President. You both have made us proud.
I had the pleasure of hearing Ms. Obama’s speech this morning and was, as always, greatly moved by her eloquence, her understanding of complex issues like education, and her love for our country and its people. I could say the same about her husband, President Obama. That these two most honorable and capable leaders, role models, and exemplars of all that is good about America will soon be departing the public stage only to be replaced by an ignorant, dangerous, ill-behaved, narcissistic child is an absolute tragedy . . . for all of us and our nation.
She’s crying because she’s seen the intel. She knows the deal. Most of us will be dead in a year.
Yeah all I had to do was read the story and that was enough.
I don’t think I can stand to watch the whole thing.
She has endured some of the most vicious shit the right wing could dream up. I’ve never seen things so thoroughly mean directed at a first lady. Maybe Hillary in the 90s, but Twitter and Facebook hadn’t been invented yet, so they weren’t so easily propagated.
