Discussion: Michael Bloomberg Won't Run For President

It really is. He came into office a Minority President with exactly zero mandate. That’s a weak ass start. The courts started blocking him almost immediately and since 2016 we’ve had the midterm slow-roll tsunami of 2018.

It’s ridiculous to imagine that he is some kind of unbeatable Reaganesque figure. Independents don’t like him much more than Democrats do. There’s no guarantee that he’ll get all those GOP votes no matter what the polls say.

All right! That’s two so far.

Now if Uncle Joe Biden would stay away we may get a decent candidate

We probably will anyway.

Sorry if I was not clear, I want them to RUN FOR the Senate… Bullock is the one guy who can conceivable win the MT senate seat that is up (Dains is weak), and Hickenlooper is the best candiate vs. Gardner, Ditto Beto vs. Cornyn.

I think Spin meant that those candidates should run for Senate in their respective states rather then run for President.

Joaquin Castro is running against Cornyn, I believe.

I really wish the mayor of Dallas, Mike Rawlings, who is finishing his term as mayor, would run. He isn’t all that well known but neither was Beto in the beginning.

Run for President or for Senate?

I’m talking about running against Cornyn for the Senate.

If a normal Republican Party still existed a Bloomberg could have entered that primary along with Hogan, Kasich, Weld, Starbucks Shultz and maybe a couple of governors and senators. The cult of Trump has overtaken the party.
Even Nixon was primaried in 1972. Congressman Pete McCloskey on the left and John Askbrook on the right.

Good if so, I had not heard that Castro was going to run. Unfortunately, he does not have the popular appeal that Beta had, is rather stiff.

Since polling continues to indicate that anyone could win against Trump in 2020, Bloomburg concluded that he’d rather hold onto all those millions he would have had to spend to get a nomination. It will so much easier and fun to watch Trump go down from the sidelines and not have to work up a sweat in the process.

At this point, everyone knows Donald Trump committed crimes and he will be indicted the moment he leaves office. People are now getting itchy to to see the reality show trials to come. They don’t want to wait another four years for the grand juries to begin. Even Donald’s most avid conservative supporters walked out on him at CPAC on Saturday.

Do I smell popcorn being roasting at Chez Bloomberg? Can the sound of champagne bottles being popped open be far behind? A year and half rushes by in an instant during an election cycle.

My husband told me he had read that Joaquin was running in the Dallas paper a couple of days ago. I agree with you about the Castro brothers and about Beto but of course, nobody is like Beto. He’s a natural. I’ve never seen anyone else like him except Bobby Kennedy.

I think he’s wasted running for the senate. I think he should go for it - based on what I saw here. He’s a magnet for young voters for one thing.

…and one faux Dem.

I think a lot of people are getting into this now running for VP. Those who are going to be considered for the top job became clear within the last month. Beto is going for it. Castro is not.

Bloomberg appears to be that rare billionaire who can put his ego aside and read the writing on the wall. And also in the sense that he funds worthy causes that benefit all Americans and not just his fellow fat cats. Sort of the anti-Koch billionaire.

O Julian Castro - yeah he won’t last.

He would have had to clean up hellish messes. Maybe he realized that he wanted to enjoy his life.

Fair or no, I think a slightly silly name like “Hickenlooper” will be an impediment to victory.

Let him keep pouring his billions into gun control efforts. Elected office? No a good idea.

@zenicetus Bloomberg, Biden and Bernie are the three B’s I want gone along with Schultz.
