Discussion: Megyn Kelly To CAIR Spox: Denying ISIS Is Islamic Is To 'Deny Reality' (VIDEO)

Why do I imagine that whenever they cut to commercial, she angrily snorts a line of meth?

By Megyn’s questionable logic, the lovely folks from Westboro Baptist Church would be examples of Christianity. While I have no use for any religion, I understand the difference between fanatics and followers.

Of course, the fact this story concerns Fox News means that logic has little or nothing to do with it.

The part he read every day was “Placed by the Gideons”

No, no, no— you’re thinking of Ayn Rand.

I hate it when I agree with the right, but from Hamas to ISIS to MILF to Al Qaeda there is a significant percentage of Muslims who are taught these outrageous practices. To deny that is to be willfully ignorant and only extends the duration of the problem. Wahhabism and the jihad mentality need to be addressed head on, not apologized for and excused.
Yes, Christians did (insert horrible practice here) a few centuries back, and yes, there are still some intolerant ignorant Christians hurting people today. But until I turn on the news and see a plane full of Jehovah Witnesses crashing into populated buildings or armed packs of Baptists running around Utah beheading Mormons, the 800 lb religion in the room throwing the temper tantrum in this era is Islam, and it needs to get a hold of itself.

The arguments are too simplified: what does “represent” mean, as in ISIS represents Islam? What does it mean that “ISIS is Islamic, is it not?”

Maher is sometimes too glib on this as well. In fact, fundamentalists of any stripe are beyond the pale. Fundamentalist Orthodox Jews are fairly close to fundamentalist Muslims are fairly close to fundamentalist Christians. Should any of those sects be considered to “represent” that particular faith? Is that fair?

I don’t believe anyone should have to defend his faith based on the conduct of fundamentalists.

Obviously ISIS is Islamic. Just as WBC, Terry Jones, and the Ku Klux Klan are Christian. If they throw up prayers to the same God as you do, and proclaim allegiance to the same text (and fundamentalists arguably have a closer allegiance to their holy books than “moderates”), then you don’t get to disown them.

Instead of this no-true-Scotsman equivocation, perhaps it would behoove us to consider whether or not radical fundamentalism isn’t the natural conclusion of religious doctrine, and if so, what that says about the advisability of respecting religious doctrine in the first place. The line between comfortable, convenient, “moderate” religion and violent theocracy is way murkier than some people would like to think.

Applying Megyn Kelly’s logic, the Mafia is a Christian Organization.

well, she should know, fox news denies reality 24/7.

Here is a long list of GWB quotes on Islam: http://afghanland.com/islam/quotes.html

The argument is getting lost here. the Middle east is Islamic, which mean saudia Arabia, Bharain, Kuwait, Qatar, all have funded ISIS and the worst is Turkey who trade ISIS oil and sell it to Europe.

ISIS is not a shia muslim terrorist group , but a sunny terrorist group. What amazes me is Megan Kelly is falling into the black hole created by radical dictator states in the Middle east. I would have thought our megan should focus on who funds them , and not who is on someone facebook page, what ever that facebook thingy is.

Its really notable since President Obama announced his plans, the Saudi’s and rich Gulf states have slithered back under the rock they have crept out of. Christians, Shia, Yezhidi murdered and all with funding from the rich Sunny states and Turkey

bill maher finds religious beliefs, of any ilk, silly and irrational.

Shrew. Wailing Banshee. Shrieking Harpy.

Make the bad woman go away…

Sweet Jesus what is wrong with you??? Who spits on someone else’s religious book? Eating pork is a requirement for office? Would you say you are taking “political correctness” to a new degree? Of course you are. Because you are the only arbiter of all good things and right people.

And yeah, he doesn’t make a good case for his own religious bigotry.

Mind like a steel trap

Admittedly this one has more upstairs then some others but she missed the point. Clive Bundy is American and Christian, so he represents the USA and Christianity?

Religion is between you and your god. Once you involve others, it’s politics.

I hope no one is seriously denying that ISIS is islamic? If a person self-identifies as something as mutable as a religious faith, then you have to take their word for it. That’s like denying whether someone prefers the color blue. It’s preference and subjective.

ISIS, from all reports, identifies as Islamic. It’s just fact.
