Snarky doc would have said, ā€œbased on your networkā€™s demographics, your viewers should be much more worried about catching STDs or norovirus in their nursing homes than Ebola.ā€

The more infections there are IN Africa (or anywhere) the more copies of the virus are made. And the more copies that are made, the greater the chance that the virus changes, genetically.

And one of those changes might enable airborne transmissibility. That is the one change that sets the world plague nightmare parade in motion.

When THAT happens we are screwed.

So letā€™s fight all the cases everywhere, as hard as we can. NOW.

ā€œOh, please, a lack of panic, calm it down,ā€ Schaffner said. ā€œI can
assure you there will not be widespread Ebola in the United States. Thatā€™s not going to happen.ā€

I was a scientist before I retired. Iā€™ll wait to see the evidence. The numbers. When I see a nurseā€¦two nurses now, who should know how to use the special protective suits and they become infected it gives me pause. Yes I understand very well what Dr Schaffner said about how Ebola is transmittedā€¦ that there must be body fluid contact. But the nurses were using protective suits. Jes sayinā€™. And I am supposed to fly on Friday.

Just look at the spelling of Benghazi! It has an ā€˜eā€™ and a ā€˜bā€™ and an ā€˜aā€™ in it and that spells ebola. Nostradumbass predicted this when he and Jeebus wrote the bible after consulting with the founding fathers, GHW Bush and GW Bush.

This panic reminds me of the panic during the Aids epidemic All the folks pre1983 who were having unprotected sex were panicking (probably rightfully so) and even those that hadnā€™t been sexually promiscuous believed you could get aids from touching someone with aids.

I wish people would calm the fuck down.

According to what I read this morning, there was a period of time when Duncan first came to the ER (on his second visit) where he was not sent to isolation and remained in the ER for several hours. The staff did not have the hazmat type suits on when attending to him, but merely regular masks and gowns. It is quite possible if not probable than any transmission to the staff occurred then (given the 21 day incubation period) and not during his extended treatment period when he was in isolation.

The reality is that transmission is NOT easy. It is totally inappropriate and cruel to scare the public into thinking otherwise, imho

Right. No one knew he had been exposed to ebola zaire. He hadnā€™t told them, and they had no reason to expect it to be so.

Actually Dar, it is now being reported that at one point she did take her gloves off and that perhaps all procedures were not followed.

I agree. And I am surprised at some of the people I know who are very intelligent and are starting to believe all the hype. The doctor is right, calm the fuck down

when duncan came to the ER on his second visit, did he have contact with the infected nurse? if not, then you are just blowing smoke.

Hereā€™s what I would have said to Mr. Scott. This virus originated in Africa and the primary carrier will be black people. "I understand who your viewing audience is. The chance of any of them coming into contact with a black person is very small. No need to worry.
