Discussion: McConnell Wants Mueller Probe To 'Wrap Up,' Falls In Line With Trump

Not gonna happen, Mitch. Manafort is headed for the sneezer, and Cohen is about to flip.

After Mueller exposes the rest of the collusion that we have not already seen, I just hope that people (Democrats?) use video clips of these co-conspirators advocating for ending the investigation to remind the voters. The frightening alternative scenario is that Mueller and half the FBI get thrown in jail and the report never gets issued. It can happen here.

Going a step further than he has before, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said Thursday that it’s time to “wrap up” Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s probe, falling into lockstep with Vice President Mike Pence and House Speaker Paul Ryan,

One tiny step for turtles, a great step for turtle kind.

Completely unsurprising.

I liked Tooter Turtle so much better than Traitor Turtle.

Hmmm. Paul to the pen; Cohen about to croon. Methinks there might be some more there there, Mitch.

Functionally it’s 100% of congress. Ryan and McConnell control everything.

Even if Mueller proceeds, the House has to vote on articles of impeachment (no way Ryan allows the vote); the Senate conducts the trial (Ha! with McConnell holding the gavel).

There’s no way Ryan & McConnell lift a finger to help Mueller.
Worse that will happen is a scathing Op-Ed from George Will. They’d ignore and shrug their shoulders.

You don’t care if you and the rest of the GOP go down in flames, apparently Mitch.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said Thursday [as word began circulating that RNC Finance Chair Cohen may turn state’s evidence] that it’s time to “wrap up” Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s probe

And then we all sit up and pay attention like Trump wants “his people” to do.

A good read, if only for a reminder about Americans and Laws, and the phrase “Mr Mueller’s…inscrutable Easter Island face,” and “air tight team.” Part of what’s going on here is Mitch and Trump know that Mueller’s strategy is total silence and he won’t respond directly to accusations about him or his investigation, so they are free to opine anyway they like.

And sitting at attention when his lord and master speaks.

No one has his back except his team. The federal judiciary between Mueller and SCOTUS, maybe. But Mueller has what he has and if he gets fired before November, one way or another, it all comes pouring out. And firing Mueller doesn’t end the investigation. Trump has to nerve himself up to face a Saturday night massacre to shut down the investigation and nothing triggers his capacity for self-delusion more than his cowardice.

Mitch: some words of wisdom:

I got a feeling
That you could be feeling
A whole lot better then you feel today
You say you got a problem
Well that’s no problem
It’s super easy not to feel that way

When you start to get confused
Because of thoughts in your head
Don’t feel those feelings!
Hold them in instead

Turn it off, like a light switch
Just go click!
It’s a cool little Mormon trick!
We do it all the time
When you’re feeling certain feelings
That just don’t seem right
Treat those pesky feelings
Like a reading light

And turn 'em off
Like a light switch, just go BAP!
Really, whats so hard about that?
Turn it off!

America isn’t heading into facism, it is here already and Americans need to understand that its time to get ready for war. We are on the cusp of a really horrible time in America and we can thank the republican party and fox news for allowing criminality to go unpunished. I always thought Pelosi’s idea of not going after Bush and Obama’s reluctance to go after the crooked banks and investment houses was a big giant mistake and now here we are…a country run by lawlessness. There will be blood, pain and as sad as it sounds, we might actually disappear as a democracy unless we start now and fight back.

Remember when he said “Let’s wrap it up.” about the Benghazi and email hearings? Yeah, me neither.

LEST WE FORGET.

The impeachment report that Kenneth Starr delivered to the House in September 1998 was the product of only one of many lines of inquiry the independent counsel pursued in more than four years of probing the President Clinton.
Originally appointed Aug. 5, 1994 to investigate a failed Arkansas real estate deal involving the Clintons almost 20 years ago, Starr’s scope expanded over time to include a bewildering range of accusations of fraud, obstruction of justice and abuse of power allegedly involving President Clinton and the first lady, as well as some of their closest friends and advisers.
JUST COULDN’T RAP IT UP?

No but Nixon’s allies were making these noises about Watergate.

Comrade McConnell will rue the day when Mueller “wraps it up”.

Boy, do I hope you are wrong about that.
