Discussion: McConnell: 'Very Confident' Govt. Won't Shut Down, Gorsuch Will Be Confirmed

“McConnell: ‘Very Confident’ …Gorsuch Will Be Confirmed.”

He went on to say, “All that lying and thieving is about to pay off! I couldn’t be happier if I had a new designer shell!”

“McTurtle was confident that Trump would be at least a semi-rational president.”

Yes, he is a special kind of moron for even saying that out loud.

All you have to do is look at Trump’s cabal and their shenanigans, to see what effect “karma” will have on you Mitch, when you’ commit an evil act!

Just ask Donnie boy how’s his Russian relationships helping him now…something to contemplate

McConnell makes me want to shut down the gov’t just to spite him.

Also, Mitch, another way of phrasing that dynamic - since it’s only been Republicans who shut down the government in the past quarter century - might be: “Every time we’ve had a government shutdown situation, it’s been Republicans who were blamed and not the Democrats.”

That said, Republicans kept shutting down the gov’t and now they control both branches of Congress and the White House. Sounds like a good incentive for Democrats to do the same - total resistance, scorched earth opposition.

My prediction is, even though McConnell and Ryan are quite aware of this dynamic…they will refuse to reach out to Democrats until after their respective caucuses blow up…in sort of an 11th hour "sigh…Oh yeah, I guess we can ask…them " . And then they will put on the show of being offended and hurt when Pelosi tells them to go pound sand.

So what should the Democratic counter be – before or after that likely event?

Before the event, make sure to make all the rounds indicating that we have a plan, and here are our agenda items for whichever piece of legislation they want to go forward with. Then when the two wannabe nancies, Ryan and McConnell start whining the real Nancy is being mean to them…tell them to go pound sand.

A bigger strategy I would recommend is putting together an ambitious agenda that resonates well with our base…both establishment and progressives planks side by side. But not JUST with our base. Make some of the main points some basic stuff that plays well across political identifiers. Think like “Contract for America”…except one that isn’t bathed in the unholy blood of conservative bullshit fairies.

Then beat republicans over the head with it every time someone can find a camera.

The big risk I see Dems making right now, is thinking that sitting on the sidelines while republicans hang themselves is the best approach. It may work, but taking action and presenting a better alternative will work even better.
