Discussion: McConnell: Trump Has ‘Excessive Expectations’ About Congress

It would be most helpful to America if you would resign. Immediately.

Gee, I wonder who set him up with the expectation that a unified GOP gov’t could do anything he wished?

You made your bed, now lie in it. Helplessly upside down. Until you starve to death.

Mitch, I’d say your expectations in trying to ram health care through in secret with no bipartisan input were extremely excessive.

Do you mean the brilliant businessman who’s never met a deal he couldn’t “make” b/c he’s willing to sell out his grandmother? That guy? My heart bleeds for you, Mitch.

He said there have been “too many artificial deadlines” created in the public sphere, which has caused confusion over how Congress operates.

I can't recall a single prominent Republican officeholder warning Trump all his "Day One" promises were unrealistic.

“Part of the reason people think we’re under-performing is because of too many artificial deadlines unrelated to the reality of the legislature we’re under-performing.”

Fixed.

Well let’s see, the Senate accomplished basically zero, Gorsuch and some appointments not withstanding as they were easy pickings.

So, according to McConnell, if Trump expected literally anything to get done…anything at all…he was expecting too much.

True enough when Republicans are in charge.

It’s not hard Mitch. He wants some Ws. Although I expect that simple concept is hard for your evil mind to process. Think sports, Mitch, not Machiavelli.

Even Gorsuch though - they had to enact a sweeping rule change which will have a massive impact for generations - i.e, they couldn’t even do that without changing the rules.

Not that I am complaining about it, mind you - Trump’s sheer ineptitude and mind-boggling incompetence are the silver linings in this sordid debacle we called an election in 2016…

I love it when Mitch is forceful like this. For a moment there, it almost looked like he had a chin.

Trump: Turtle is so fucked up. I gave a job to his foreign wife because I wanted him to do shit I tell him to do. WTF is wrong with people from Kentucky?

“No excessive expectations! No excessive expectations! You have excessive expectations!”

Chiselin’ Trump:Excessive expectations?!? Who would believe that? There’s absolutely nothing at all excessive about me.”

Mostly because you made the expectations in the first place. You have all three houses occupied and are now reduced to a cannibalistic circus that is in-fighting and desperately trying to assign blame. Have fun with the Mid Terms

GOP House 2018: It’s the Senate’s fault.
GOP Senate 2018: Obstructionist Dems.
Trump 2018: All these losers failed me!

I’m old enough to remember when Republicans all spoke with one voice like the Borg.

I seriously wonder how McConnell can think Congress is working the way it should right now, because nothing going on is the way that it was intended from the start. The idea that a party could block a SC justice nomination, that a major health care bill could come to the floor without a single hearing, that secret bills could be voted on…none of that is how Congress is supposed to work. That’s how authoritarian governments, or banana republics rubber stamping dictator’s demands, work, and that’s not us. Fortunately the system is holding back the worst impulses, for now…but the damage McConnell and the Republicans are doing won’t go away immediately.

If there is any justice, McConnell will go down as one of the worst people to work in Congress in our history. He single handedly has caused more destruction in our political order than any other politician I can think of.

Let’s make Donald Trump a “one term president”, Mitch. Maybe this time it will work better than the last time.

[Mitch McConnell] said there have been “too many artificial deadlines” created in the public sphere, which has caused confusion over how Congress operates.

I wonder who is responsible for that?

“There was a reason Mitch McConnell badly wanted a vote on the Senate health care bill before July 4.”
