The Repubs control the Presidency. The Repubs control the Senate. The Repubs control the House of Representatives. For them to govern and perform represents “excessive expectations.” Bwahahahahaha! The comedy/tragedy writes itself!
“Our new President, of course, has not been in this line of work before."
This is the best ad copy I’ve seen today. The GOP: unfit, incompetent and can’t govern.
And to think Bill Clinton was called “best in his class.” The GOP is “barely scraping by.”
"I think it would be helpful if the President would be a little more on
message, instead of a big moron,” [McConnell] said.
Hey I wish he wouldn’t tweet so much, but he hired my wife. You can see the jam I’m in, can’t you? It’s not like I don’t spend her income too, folks. I mean we’re married for Chrissakes.
Come on, people.
“Our new President, of course, has not been in this line of work before. I think he had excessive expectations about how quickly things happen in the democratic process,” McConnell said, according to a CNN affiliate.
And let’s remember that congress has accomplished next to zilch – still no budget bills to speak of – without even the burden of approving the usual run of presidential appointees. 500 hearings they didn’t have, votes they didn’t have to take, and they’re still endlessly behind.
“Part of the reason I think people think we’re under-performing is because of too many artificial deadlines unrelated to the reality of the legislature, which may have not been understood,” he said.
most of which are coming from this incarnation of ‘1600’.
I guess ‘to be continued in 2019’ is now the new game plan.
While I’m grateful for the separation of powers right now, Congress would be much more effective if it was a parliamentary system so that the amount of dysfunction would be a minimum so things could still get done.
Congress hasn’t operated the way it should since this festering psycopath took over leadership of the Senate Republican Caucus. Arguably, you could backdate that to Gingrich, but nobody has done more to break Congress and the federal government generally than Mitch.
Now I’m going to have nightmares for weeks.
Well that’s pretty obvious - and it’s also pretty damn obvious that you can’t deliver, Mitch.
And you know what, Mitch? This is what happens when Congress and the Executive are at war with about 85% of the population.
More like incapable of legislating. They only know procedural trickery on how to prevent the majority from legislating.
Newt set the tone and the stage for perpetual partisan bellicosity. Mitch perfected the art of grinding the senate to a halt, while making their base believe that the senate GOP was actually doing something. And then the GOP elected a vain emporor who in his own vainglorious way has pulled back the curtains so everyone - even the GOP base - can see the naked do nothingness - except rave and scheme to harm americans - of the GOP in the Senate and the House.
Take a bow Mitch.
A little icing to demonstrate how far into farce we have moved - I share this unsurprising, but very disturbing short article about the folders brought to trump each day to “read” - this needs to be read far and wide and become common knowledge (and it’s deliciously mockable material.) Vice: Trump gets a folder filled with positive news about himself, twice a day.
Looks like binders full of women stacked at the foot of the bed.
If it’ll help him at all Comrade Cockholster can adopt my “excessive expectations” of Ruthugliklans in Congress being excessively regressive … about everything. Perhaps that would make his world a little rosier, although, with any luck, they still won’t get anything done.
Actually I’d like to see McConnell fail at extending DT’s time in office to being a full one term president.
your bed, now lie in it
I’m OK with seeing McConnell tossing and turning.
I meant as a turtle being upside down would be a situation he couldn’t get himself out of. Which, come to think of it, is pretty close to his actual, real situation.
as a turtle being upside down would be a situation he couldn’t get himself out of
Don’t vampires also sleep upside down?
But sure.
However, I still enjoy seeing him start to squirm.
