Sorry, turtle, the people have already spoken and the Constitution as written is much better than the one you propose. This way we have a President who servers a four year term. Under your changes the US would have a President for three years and then weâd go into stasis.

You are being far too kind.
Under McConnellâs constitution, no Democratic President would have any powers at all. Nor shall any majority of Democrats in the Senate be recognized. If its 99 Dems - 1 GOPâŚthat 1 person shall be the majority leader.
McConnell is shooting himself in the foot here. He should have waited until at least there was a nominee named. This blanket denial isnât going to play well with the larger electorate.

Screw November. The Republicans intend to hold this Supreme Court seat hostage until someone nominates someone who meets their approval.
Theyâre prepared to wait for decades, as long as they hold at least 41 seats in the Senate.

It would be especially ironic if they won the presidency but still lost the Senate at the same time, which is not impossible especially if Trump is the nominee.

If the next election is supposed to supersede the last election, that clearly has the force of constitutional law, why should the Senate do any business at all? They should just go home, not take their salaries, and stop insulting the American people as they spit on the US Constitution.

Yes, and letâs just do the same for every senator in the last year of their term who also thinks this president should not waste his time nominating someone. By my count this would leave senate Democrats easily in control and the adults can go on with advising, consenting and governing. Let them all leave the senate chamber (just like Rubio under normal circumstances) and not vote on anything until the people speak who their successors will be.
âŚor could be he is saying the 3/5 compromise rule applies. Only white presidentâs get 8 years or 96 months. Obama gets 3/5 of that or a bit more than 58 months. So the prez and his family have been squatting in the White House since the year before last, and he must give back his Loretta Lynch nomination for AG.
