The internals must be brutal
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) said on Tuesday that Senate Republicans are facing a “storm” in the 2018 elections and listed several races that are tough for the GOP.
SURE HOPE HE IS RIGHT
Yertle the Turtle’s right wing judge machine needs to be shut down. Let’s hope the Republicans lose the Senate so vacancies can be filled by the next Democratic President in 2021.
This from a man who didn’t care what the voters said or thought?
He got his wife a job and turned his back on the American people – NOW he cares?
I’m sure his hope that his den of thieves holds the majority is based entirely on his concern for his colleagues and not in any way a reflection of his fear of becoming the minority leader.
The lame-duck session of Congress will include laws that repeal/outlaw ACA, the EPA, Spanish, Nike, the rest of Obama’s legacy, anything Obama enjoys, Obama, catalytic converters, Hilary Clinton’s Presidency, laughter, natural gas powered electric plants, vaginas, taxes, rainbows, and science. I’m pretty sure there will be more, too.
And who said his greatest achievement was refusing hearings for Merrick Garland to be Justice of the SCOTUS.
It’s easy, Mitch. Trying to help the American people afford health care is not overreach. Trying to subvert the system to have a permanent majority and supporting an ignorant authoritarian clown as a step along the way to your theocratic plutocracy–that, sir, is overreach. And if decent Americans have anything to say about it you bastards are going to bring back your arm without a hand on the end of it, just a bloody stump. Just take that lesson to heart because next time we won’t be so gentle.
My first thought was: What is he up to:
a) Broadcasting to Funders (Kick In Now - or Lose the Senate!) like Mulvaney did per Cruz;
b) Broadcasting to Trump (cuz Trump only learns it if he hears it on Fox TV), as a warning - not to do too many senate candidate visits/rallies (from McConnell’s view - bad juju - but manipulating the pres who doesn’t like to align with candidates who don’t win);
c) A spontaneous reaction that oozed out because the numbers and worries are that bad.
My bet is A. Combine that with the push to do more tax cuts which the majority don’t want (not polling well for candidates), but the big donors DO want.
Though if they’ll throw in The Eagles, I might be willing to deal.
Mitch, here’s the thing - the American people, with the exception of a small minority of cultists, understand that this president is a clear and present danger to our national security. YOU are what is keeping him in office.
We also get that and as a result we’re going to make you pay. I hope eventually you get prosecuted because I know there are things we don’t know yet about how much you knew prior to the election and how long you knew it.
I can only assume that the private polling is as bad for the republicans as the public polling has been.
On the senate, my best guess is
(1) that the D’s win in NV (they have a killer turn out machine) and the polls show Rosen up by about a point when aggregated. I just don’t see Harry Reid loses this race. Today the Reno Gazette/Suffolk is out with a poll showing Rosen up by a point, she was down by a point a month ago. And while in the margin or error, Heller is at 41%. Incumbents loose in this situation.
(2) The D’s win AZ. Sinema has had a consistent lead over McSally in all polls, up 4-5%. Again I think that this race breaks their way.
That puts them up by a seat (it is currently 51R/49D)
(3) TN is the next most likely for the D’s. Bredesen lead in early polls, and Blackburn is a real unpleasant character, too far right for the TN business community. This is one where more Trump craziness might cost them a seat.
(4) TX one can dream, and Beto O’Rourke is a stellar candidate. Cruz is widely disliked by the “business” republicans. I would not rule out a surprise here, Beto has raised as much $$$ as Cruz has, and may in the end raise more. What TV ads now hitting will do will be interesting to watch.
On the other side:
(5) I think the most vulnerable Democrat now is Nelson (FL), as Rick Scott has been spending a butt load of his own and special interest $$$$ attacking Nelson. There is too little good polling to say who is in the lead, but what little there is shows Scott up by about a point (or as in the most recent poll tied 49% each). I do think that Gillium winning the D governor nomination will help goose African-American turn out, which will help Nelson. Nelson has only started to spend his $$$, and kept in the race when Scott was spending major $$$ attacking him with no response, so I give the edge to Nelson.
(6) MO. The only recent non-partisan polls have shown McCaskill up 44 to 40% with likely voters, and 43% to 39% with registered voters. http://media1.s-nbcnews.com/i/today/z_creative/NBC%20News_Marist%20Poll_Missouri%20Annotated%20Questionnaire_September%202018_1808311142.pdf McCaskill is a very good candidate, and my guess is where the election held today, she would win.
(7) North Dakota. Heitkamp is well liked in the state, and Cramer has some negatives. There has been little polling (and none in the last 90 days) so hard to know where the race stands.
(8) Indiana. The Republican Braun has some real negatives. The only post primary poll – by a republican pollster – had Donnelly (D) up by 12%. and a few days ago NBC/Marist out with a quality poll of Indiana, showing Donnelly (D) up 49% to 43% with likely voters.
While I don’t think it will be 12% win, absent some major change in the national environment, I think Donnelly wins.
Given trump’s recent fall in the polls (to 37.8% approval, see https://www.cnn.com/2018/09/11/politics/trump-approval-rating-dropped/index.html ) I would go so far as to suggest that if things keep going the way they are that the D’s take the Senate as well.
Obviously, a real win by Trump on something (trade, North Korea) might change the race, but I think more Trump craziness as the cognitive dissonance between his belief that he is a genius and can convince everyone of this fact “if only stupid people would get out of his way” and the fact that the message of “how great he is” is not getting through to people gets worse.
Beware a wounded animal. Plenty of time to do major damage.
I think it was right after the illegitimate 2016 election that McConnell very humbly said that they have to be very careful not to overreach having all the branches now at their disposal. Hoping a reporter will confront POS McConnell with that someday very soon.
Reporters please note, Republican’s are never humble, nor genuine nor honest. Always assume they are lying until there is strong evidence otherwise. Republicans are not worthy of the greatness that is America, they are America’s enemies until they repent.
O/T
Dump just said Puerto Rico was one of his biggest successes
HE Really just SAID that
That will never work In The Long Run.
