Discussion: McConnell Open To Trump's Idea Of Paring Back $1.3 Trillion Spending Bill

The Senate’s top Republican said Tuesday that he’s open to a proposal from the White House to pare back a hard-fought spending package…

Drumpf’s influence on McTurtle is clear here: he’s ready to welsh on a deal.

I see they’re clutched in Bleached Brothers version of a (no) soul 'shake.

“I’m just very concerned about reopening a very complicated negotiation that was agreed to by all parties including congressional leaders and the White House,” Collins said.

GOD, SHE’S JUST SO DAMNED PREDICTABLE! It’s like Gingrich with his “frankly this” and “frankly that,” Collins’s “very concerned” and “serious reservations” are just verbal tics. Always, “very concerned” or “serious reservations.”

In Trump’s world “The Art of the Deal” is that you can go back and screw the people you made the deal with.

Seriously?

“The president has made clear that he is not happy with the amount of non-defense spending in the omnibus bill and will work with like-minded partners on Capitol Hill to see how we can reduce wasteful Washington spending within the law,” White House budget director Mick Mulvaney said in a statement.

I’m gonna bet there’s plenty more than 1.3T that could be cut from the largest military budget in the world, if they are really serious about cutting the deficit.

The Senate, however, is split 51-49 in favor of Republicans, which means the defection of a single GOP vote is sufficient to kill legislation.

OK, let’s check our work… 51 minus 1 defection leaves the Senate at 50 for and 50 against. What happens in a tie?!? OHHHHHHHHHHH, that’s right, VP Mike Pence breaks the tie. So, no, if TWO GOP Senators “defect” THEN the legislation would be killed (for now).

How about $100 billion from the defense budget?

Art of the steal. Get their goods and services. Refuse to pay the agreed-upon amount. Tie them up in court for years. Hope they give up. Declare bankruptcy.
Lather. Repeat.

The Senate is split 50-49 right now, with McCain extremely unlikely to come to Washington to vote on a bill that would completely eviscerate any remaining possibility for bipartisan legislation.

It’s the AP. Don’t harsh their buzz.

Okay, rescind most of the tax cuts. That will reduce the deficit. Easy.

Ah, yes, THAT makes sense…the part about McCain not being available was probably “edited for time and to fit the format of the screen” from the article.

Thank You!

These guys crack me up.
Unfortunately, it’s serious country business.
But if these guys had to answer the question:
If you have 12 hens in a chicken house and 1 rooster, how many eggs could you get each day?
They would say, Just 1 because there is only 1 rooster.

Whatever happened to YOU BUILT THAT? LIve with it. Dems sure aren’t gonna help you assholes screw over more people. Aside from DACA, they got some of what they wanted, and guess what…Repukes said I’m fine with that because I don’t know how to read. Tough titties guys. Janet Yellen wrote an op-ed that said we are headed for a world of hurt with this spending bill but as I recall, tRump fired her too. Listening to reason has never been one of his strong suits. In fact, I can’t think of any he has, truth be told. Figuratively speaking, he tries to trump everything. I seriously doubt McTurtle has any plans to bring this up again either.

I’m with you, conservatives.

Trump doesn’t think you and I are paying enough in taxes. Their problem is the money is going to the needy.

Better in the hands of grifters known as Republicans.

They literally have too much money.

Shorter Donald Trump on the Art of the Deal: Make a deal, then welsh on it.

Hah! I should have read through the messages before I wrote my own. You and I were thinking along the same lines.

GOP Ayn Rand Plan (Part B-) Slash Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security screaming, “We’re ALL going BROKE!”

Poor, rural, mouth-breathing Republicans cheer!

It’s like, “Elections have consequences,” – it’s something GOPers say to Democrats to remind them they’re losers and shut them up. Since the same rules don’t apply to the Reactionaries (who don’t feel the requisite shame, anyway,) if they deign to answer such statements, it’s with cries of victimization, special pleading or whataboutism.
