Discussion: McConnell Not Following Confirmation Process He Demanded From Reid In '09

I want to see that 2009 Mitch letter plastered all over the place. I do not want to be one of a handful of people who’s read that.

A quick spin through the OGE disclosure forms and Obama Admin cabinet nominee hearings seems to indicate that the ethics reviews were completed prior to confirmation.

How childish of us. Clearly the adult thing to do is to blow a Bronx Cheer at the ethics review process.

So which jellyfish on our team is going to stand up and read this letter into the congressional record tomorrow? Meh…spineless fucks…

In a statement to PolitiFact, his communications director, David Popp, noted that the Senate had already held hearings for most of of Obama’s Cabinet nominees by the time McConnell sent Reid the letter on Feb. 12, 2009.

and Hilda Solis’s two month wait was at an end.

Exactly–and make sure to use that appellation early and often!

Turtle: When I wrote that letter, Trump wasn’t our President, Obama was.
FOX: Not only the letter is irrelevant, we now have a White President who called out The Illegitimate Kenyan.

And the reason we should expect honesty, fairness, and consistency from a Repulsive slime bucket like Turtle is?

I’m not so sure about him being the first openly racist/bigoted president, tbh.

Here’s the senate list for '09.

Most of the announcements were in Dec. and at least five ran into serious difficulty (guess which five), but just two of em (and if I’m wrong…) had to be shucked on account of misconduct.

Well, our President-elect is in a Twitter feud with Meryl Streep, so…priorities.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) said the letter proved that Trump’s transition team was colluding with Senate Republicans “to jam through these Cabinet nominees before they’ve been thoroughly vetted."

Also, I would add that I’m not even that concerned about what would come up in the vetting process for Trump’s appointees. They are already so clearly a disaster for the American people just by what we already know!

Trump?

Yes they did…and not just in THIS article but the FTN host did not ask that question when McConnell tried to assert that ‘the Democrats did the same thing’. Because you know, it’s not about ‘truth’ in this news gathering business.

well he did consider Trump’s NATO remarks to be a rookie mistake.

So why are Republicans surprised their party produced a nominee who devoutly believes in rejecting Christian values, favoring lying, cheating, and stealing more than God’s Law?

“McConnell Not Following Confirmation Process He Demanded From Reid In '09”

Well of course he’s not. He’s the complete package - unrepentant hypocrite and unabashed liar.

The repuklikans don’t even try to hide what they do anymore. They have learned to rely on the short attention span and ignorance of their constituents.

Speaking of ani-mules like turtles, I think it is time for the GOP to change from an elephant to some far more descriptive - the diminutive Hippo-critter. Like much of the GOP, they thrive in swampy waters.

Not even a new letter – they should literally cross out the old date, “Harry” and McConnell’s signature, and type/write the updates on Mitch’s original. And distribute it widely.

They were. And if the media were to actually read the letter from the OGE, it notes that the approach used for the past four decades is that the OGE process was initiated and completed even before the nomininees were made public. In the case of Trump, he goes on twitter to nominate and then goes dark with the OGE.

Instead of draining the swamp, Trump is filling it with alligators and the republicans and Trump voters could not care less.

“Ethics? We don’t need no stinkin ethics!”

Nothing has really changed from 2009. McConnell is simply doing what he has always done - making up the rules to suit his political objectives of the moment. He is a shamelessly ruthless partisan who will do whatever is necessary to reach his goal.
