Discussion: McConnell Not Following Confirmation Process He Demanded From Reid In '09

Well, this is certainly shocking and unexpected coming from McTurtle!!!

The article is missing a critical piece of information – did the Obama administration wait for those reviews before push for confirmation? I hope they did, otherwise it is hypocrisy on our side too.

A shameless hypocrite, a soulless scumbag, liar, and cynical partisan hack embodies Senator Yertle the Turtle. He doesn’t care what he said in the past because he gets away with it. The media do little to pursue his endless lies. GOP voters don’t care about facts; all they want is power, and Yertle embodies their “id”.

Wait, what… republicans are utter and complete hypocrites?!?

If one dispenses with the fiction that the modern republican party actually has any principles aside from doing whatever is in it’s power to acquire more power, then what they actually do makes much more sense. Any “core principles” that they pretend to hold outside of that are utterly flexible.

The remarkable thing is that their base seems to hold few illusions and doesn’t mind at all the wild swings in what are supposed to be foundational beliefs on a regular basis (“small, local government”, “debt is evil”, etc). The only group that doesn’t seem to get this is the media for whatever reason. I suppose that maintaining simple narratives is easier than doing actual reporting.

The old do as I say not as I do. Nothing to do with moral, all about blocking anything but my way.

McConnell: “Our top priority is to make Trump a five-term President.”

Assuming Majority Leader Reid DID honor the request and follow the procedures demanded by Sen. McConnell, why shouldn’t Sen. Schumer (or any other Democratic senator) simply send this identical letter, appropriately addressed and signed, to Sen. McConnell? And send copies to every media outlet that hasn’t already reported on this (yet one more instance of) blatant, provable hypocrisy from the Republican leader?

A quick spin through the OGE disclosure forms and Obama Admin cabinet nominee hearings seems to indicate that the ethics reviews were completed prior to confirmation.

Well, this is certainly another unsurprising story. I bet he hasn’t really said it yet, but he will, and the writer just wanted to get out of work early today. No harm. Like obituaries, articles noting McConnell’s hypocrisies can be pre-written and pulled off the shelf as needed. Future stories that can be written right now will be about McConnell blaming the collapse of the health care system on the ACA’s “death spiral”, how the replacement "Republican Affordable Care Act "is not at all like the “Obamacare” because the name is different, and how Trump launching a war with Iran/North Korea is not the act of an imperial, overreaching despot.

That is a colorful, succinct, and completely accurate, description of the senator.

2008: America elects its first African American President. McConnell says his top priority is to make Obama a 1-term President and block everything he wants to do.

2016: America elects its first openly racist and bigoted president. McConnell says we must now all support the president, work together and move on.

McConnell is essentially the guy that makes fun of another person for not having an erection while he himself has a prescription for Viagara.

Note carefully what he’s saying. He says he wants all “the paperwork” done before the Senate vote for confirmation, but not before the committee hearings are conducted! That is, he wants to be able to say the Senate had all the information available to it before it nominates a corrupt oligarch or a corrupt tool of oligarchs, but he doesn’t want anyone asking unpleasant sore losery kinds of questions about the obvious potential for corruption and potential for subornation.

Why isn’t Senator Schumer standing in front of those cameras that he loves with an enlarged photo of the letter, and asking why Sen McConnell will not follow his own guidelines. Get some cajones Chuck!!! Now!!!

Turtle (Idiot -KY): I was in a swamp in 2009 and wanted Obama to fail. I have now reformed myself and want Sir Trump to succeed, especially with my wife being in his cabinet. Democrats need not be in a swamp and learn from my experience.

It’s obvious that Sessions and Price should not be approved by the Senate.

McConnell: I am only doing what my supporters want. They want us to obstruct Democrats and help Republicans, even if it hurts them or the country/constitution. I always, always pay attention to my constituents.

Time for the Democrats to invoke “the McConnell Rule” as their authority to slow-roll the confirmations.
