Discussion: McConnell: I Don't Know What Kind Of Health Care Bill Trump Would Sign

Because Trump is a self made man and never had any help making his millions he will vote for any thing that makes him look tough no matter who gets hurt.
McConnell, it does matter what he will sign.If you and your kind can work across the isle and come up with something right, you can over ride his veto.

Exactly. Why does Mitch think he’s fooling anyone? trump has no ideas and wouldn’t understand the bill anyway. He will have absolutely no input into any bill Congress manages to cobble together. Nothing about the bill will depend on trump’s opinion one way or the other.

What a sham.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) on Sunday said he is ā€œwaitingā€ to find out what kind of health care bill President Donald Trump would be willing to sign.

Turtles can talk! Who knew?

This was my reaction as well. I think McConnell was being sarcastic.

That’s how I read it also.

He’s calling Trump fickle and capricious. Child-like and irresponsible. A non serious person incapable of getting things done.

But, of course, Trump will only latch on only to the last part and thank McConnell, until someone points out to him it was a dis.

Who among his staff is going to do that? Kelly?

Kellyanne Conway…

Probably Bannon.

Yeah, I can see that. Bannon doing that would drive a bigger wedge between Trump and the Rs.

I’d love to make biscuits and (hemlock) gravy for McYertle’s Sunday breakfast. And yes, Elaine’s invited too.

Something named ā€œTrumpcareā€ printed in gold colored letters.

He’ll only sign a healthcare bill that is the moral equivalent of his business model. Take people’s premium money and enshrine ways to avoid paying benefits. Just like the good old days. MAGA!

Hey Mitchy should you first figure out what your own members will for for first?
Ryan the same goes for you.

It’s pretty obvious what McConnell is thinking here. He wants Trump to come out for a bipartisan fix before Senate Republicans go out on a limb to vote for it. Trump’s support would give them some cover with the base. In addition, it makes it harder (although not impossible) for Trump to then turn around and refuse to sign the bill, again leaving the GOP legislators hanging out to dry.

McConnell clearly doesn’t trust Trump and wants Trump to take ownership of any interim fix.

Ten out of ten isn’t giving himself enough credit?

It’s worse than that. McConnell now seems to be saying that no legislation which might be subject to veto should be sent to the President. Bullshit. That’s not how our system is supposed to work; that’s not how any of this is supposed to work! McConnell is a soulless, amoral piece of excrement. I do hope Bannon succeeds in his quest to strip him of ā€œleadership.ā€ He’s not fit to lead a Boy Scout parade.

Alexander-Murray is the type of bill that the Ted Cruz’s of the world would sabotage, which would cause McConnell/Ryan to hold back because of threats to their leadership. I can’t imagine that the Koch Bros support the bill and I don’t think they would allow it to be considered a ā€˜win’.

I also don’t think the Koch’s idea of cutting medicare and medicaid to pay for a tax cut is going to work. I don’t think there are 50 votes (+1 w/Pence) in the US Senate or 218 in the House.

On top of that, you have the daily craziness and derpravity that is Trump. No one really knows what he would sign or not sign. It’s more chaotic, dysfunctional government that doesn’t serve the needs of the people. Thanks…3rd party voters, for being unable to tell the difference between a toxic pool of sludge and a basketball.

I don’t think we’ll really know how McConnell and Ryan will proceed until the VA and NJ elections. In VA, if the Dem share of the white vote and turnout match what we’ve seen in the special elections to date, the Dems would win the statewide races fairly comfortably, and probably win at least 10 seats in the House of Delegates and maybe get as high as 15, which might be enough to get medicaid expansion passed.

If the VA Dems do have such a performance, I think the GOP will conclude that their assumptions about their share of the white vote need to be adjusted and they might make some concessions on health care.

The flip side of it is that far right GOPers will conclude that they didn’t go hard right enough with Gillespie and would basically go full MAGA in '18 and go full white nationalist.

R-i-i-i-ght. Here’s an idea, Mitch - Why don’t you pass a bill that will ā€˜stabilize the market’ and then see if Putin’s Puppet signs it?

McConnell: My puppet never did it’s ā€˜pivot’ and I have no control over it! Help!
