Discussion: McConnell Enlists Kelly Ayotte To Help Defend Hobby Lobby Ruling

Discussion for article #225086

This clip WILL be used against her when in fact the SC clarifies that it does apply to all contraception in following cases.

Remember when she used to be in the news occasionally? That was fun, watching her carry McCain’s and Miz Linz’s purses.

"Ayotte said Republicans will offer legislation “that will make very clear that women have the same rights today to access contraception as they did before Obamacare was passed, and before the Hobby Lobby decision.” "

Waaaaaay, waaaay before. Like a few hundred years before they were passed.

Nice dodge but the issue is not about “getting or filling a prescription” for birth control. It’s about being covered by your insurance for doing so.

I don’t care who Senator McConnell puts up as the face of this bill, it will not change the way many women in this country fell about this ruling. No woman wants her boss to make decisions about her reproductive rights and birth choices. Contraception chooses should be left to a woman and her doctor. Period.

“I’ve been deeply disturbed by the misrepresentations that are being made about what the Hobby Lobby decision means”

Well then Kelly, perhaps you should stop making those misrepresentations if they bother you so much.

Please ignore the fact that they had Health Insurance that once covered this and via ACA the insurance company would pay if the corporation wouldn’t - H/L took that cost and shoved it at the woman and said - we demand you have insurance but won’t pay for stuff we don’t like.

This sincerely held belief is going to bite the GOP in the behind as they try and bob/ weave through elections. :-)

“I’ve been deeply disturbed by the misrepresentations…”

Ayotte is always “deeply disturbed” about something. Or “deeply concerned”.  Yet she was not all that concerned about the school shootings in Newtown.

Go figure.

Bottom line - she is a total fake.

“employers may not prevent an employee from buying FDA-approved drugs, including contraception …”

uh-huh … but don’t be surprised when they start saying things like:

  • employer issues stern communications that make it clear that any medical event that could even be marginally related to the use of contraceptives - would be emphatically denied coverage.

  • employer communicates that a failure to disclose the non-covered use of contraceptives would be viewed as fraud - and violation of truthfulness in terms of medical information reporting.

  • employer does not believe in fertility treatment / in-vitro or artificial insemination - and will not cover any pregnancy or pregnancy complication related to such actions.

Of course this would not hold up - but you can be sure these things will be said.

So, Ms Ayotte, the premium for the insurance will actually be higher if the contraception coverage is un-bundled. Should the employee now be responsible for paying both the out of pocket cost for the prescriptions as well as the higher premiums?

And… prior to the ACA Hobby Lobby actually covered the contraceptives in question. They only put on their Pharisees hat and objected to this when it became a part of the signature legislation passed by our first black President. So, your before and after comparison is a shade hollow.

I assume, as per protocol, she cleared her statement first with John McCain and Lindsey Graham.

Typical misleading, distorting the facts and just make shit up republican bullshit. Nobody, nowhere ever said the Hobby Lobby ruling meant an employer had the right to prevent a female employee from buying contraception meds, or any meds that have to do with female reproduction. Its about insurance coverage for those things, and Kelly Ayotte knows it. McConnell and his little posse are some of the most dishonest, lying motherfuckers to ever set foot in Washington, D.C.

She’s a fool! Seriously, dummy, you don’t live in fucking Texas. You’re a senator from a state that’s increasingly trending blue. You’ll be facing reelection at a time when a woman will most likely be at the top of your opposition’s ticket. To sign onto this thing is massively stupid. To allow the good ole boys in your party to use you, to hide behind your skirt is is embarrassing.

What no one seems to deal with is that the HL decision ignores the black letter of the law.

Nowhere in the ACA does it say that Hobby Lobby—or any other company—has to offer contraceptive coverage.

The law requires insurance companies to offer every FDA approved method of contraception in every policy without a co-pay from the insured.

Hobby Lobby doesn’t have to offer insurance to its employees, so there is nothing compelling the company to violate the stupid and scientifically illiterate religious views of its right-wing owners.

The Supremes deliberately misconstrued the law for reasons of political ideology.

To get the generous tax breaks that ACA provides they do.

HELP, MR. WIZARD!

Kelly Ayotte – The female Mitch McConnell, a reptile just like him, who should be ashamed to call herself a woman. Like Clarence Thomas, who is black in color only, she is disgustingly right-wing and a tea-bag lover.
