There are no serious barriers to voting anymore anywhere in America - how about - no local polling places for poor neighborhoods - want to vote - get in your imaginary car and drive 8-10 miles to some obscure polling location.

Nope. A uniform national voter’s card is long past due. Anyone who claims otherwise is apparently okay with our patchwork of state laws for what constitutes proper voter registration. You either regularize it or we continue to deal with state’s attorney generals making up new ways to keep people from voting. Voting is a federally assured right, not something to be decided by each state.

Sometime ago there was a redistricting commission here in AZ. Of our several Congressional districts 5 were to be GOP, 4 Democrat and the left overs in play. The state GOP threw a major vein popping hissy fit and lost it. They said all districts should be safely republican no matter what the voters thought.
Hmm, pretty sure you advocated for state voter ID cards in the previous post. In any case, a national card might more sense…in a sane world/country…but there are thousands of cases where registered voters in various states can’t get (sometimes) “free” state id’s or voter cards, because they often require other forms of ID (birth certificates being a big one) that are simply not available period, or have a cost they can’t afford, or they are unable to travel, but would have to travel to get one, etc. Not sure a national ID card, even if it somehow got through Congress (which is a pipe dream) wouldn’t have many of the same problems.
Every time someone objects to this it’s the same litany of “challenges.” If you want to vote, you’ll make it happen. If you can’t, then you’re probably don’t really care.
