I am incredulous that these apologists for this piece of human trash are acting surprised. He has been sayin shit like this for 40 years.

Much of the blame for Trumpism lies at McCain’s feet thanks to his choice of Palin.

trump alone should suffer the consequences??

oh no, Johnny. if you continue to endorse and support him, YOU get to suffer the consequences, too.

Really, reap what you sow McCain.

It’s uncanny how a tight Senate race can focus Republicans’ minds.

Uncanny!

If only it were this simple. Palin was only a viable choice because this undercurrent was already there. She was mere the harbinger of Trumpism, not the cause. The vicious, racist, sexist, angry and frustrated Republican base has been trending in this generation for decades.

If anything, McCain should be thanked for giving us the warning shot… and then slapped repeatedly for not just saying ‘DID YOU NOT GET IT WHEN THEY NOMINATED DUBYA?!? THE PARTY’S LOST ITS MIND!!’

Slapped.

“He alone bears the burden of his conduct and alone should suffer the consequences.”

C’mon TPM. That’s not a “strong criticism.” That’s the weaselly henchman trying to switch sides at the end of the movie.

His “comments?” It’s not the language, dumbass. It’s the fact that Trump’s gleefully confessing to sexual assault.

McCain has no business up on his sanctimonious high-horse.

McCain called his own wife a c*** over a live mike during a campaign appearance earlier in his worthless Senate career.

Yes, you can google that.

He alone bears the burden of his conduct and alone should suffer the consequences," McCain said in a statement from his campaign Friday night.

Yeah… more like he and anyone who endorses him.

The only quibble I have with that statement is that ‘the base’ didn’t descend on their own accord. They were pushed in that direction by right-wing oligarchs and their minions in the media.

McCain: I have to be careful to not piss off the lunatic Trump’s supporters, aka Republicans.

“The consequences” = being elected President, but suffering several finger wags and accusations of being “a bad, bad boy.”

Yep. You sow the wind, you reap the whirlwind, Walnuts.

Of course, I’m still voting for him, and I support him unconditionally.

McCain: “There are no excuses for Donald Trump’s offensive and demeaning comments.”

“Unless a woman says, ‘You’re getting a little thin up there’…”

“Then it’s OK to <a href=http://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/4/7/491654/-”>call her a c*nt."

And just two days ago McCain said it was acceptable for Trump to disparage veterans. A few days from now when McCain realizes the GOP base, and his ticket to re-election, are okay with Trump’s comments, McCain will walk this back and just start calling it “locker room talk” like all the other sexist conservatives.

It’s interesting that Trump “alone should suffer the consequences” of his disgusting behavior. In other words, “feel free to withhold your vote from Trump, but don’t take out your anger on the rest of the Republican party.”

Sorry, Johnny - You and the rest of your party own this creature. You wanted to share in his glory if (heaven forbid!) he won the presidency. The flip side is that you get to share in his shame when he goes down in flames.
