Dark day. I support.
Really? A dark day in the Senate? Where was Grampa Get-Off-My-Lawn when he and his party were blocking Garland out of hand?
Senate GOP: “This is a terrible, terrible thing to do.”
Reporters: “Are you going to do it?”
Senate GOP: “Well, sure!”
Face, meet palm.
Edited to add: Senator McCain, what price should your party pay for the unprecedented obstruction of Merrick Garland? If your answer is “none,” why?
Feel free to vote against changing the rules, Senator.
If the Democrats can’t filibuster a nominee who
(1) will occupy a stolen seat;
(2) espouses a jurisprudence of sadism;
(3) is funded by $10 million in dark money and clearly has secret obligations;
(4) is nominated by a president whose legitimacy is in grave doubt,
when can they filibuster?
Republicans need to be reminded Obama did not get his judge. That is the reason for this mess created by the Republicans. Is the press reminding these snakes of their hypocrisy? Good grief!! Complacency!!
Q: "If the Democrats can’t filibuster a nominee who

(4) is nominated by a president whose legitimacy is in grave doubt,

A: According to Rs, NEVER.
That’s why they need to force the republicans hand. Why on earth would anyone support a nominee like this, under these circumstances? If Yertle the Turtle wants to blow up the senate rules, go for it and live with the consequences. I am just upset that the Dem’s didn’t do this first.
Thanks to the SenateSonsOfMitches!
Harry Reid saved our bacon when he abolished the filibuster for federal judge appointees, because if he hadn’t we would be well and truly screwed.
Merrick Garland: Yes; Day was very very bright when GOP senate refused to have a vote for me.
They’re all fucking liars and hypocrites.
Just like with 9/11, GrOPers pretend W’s tenure began on that day forward, and not the 9 months before, where W. was responsible for not protecting the country from planes crashing into buildings. In the case of SCOTUS, the nuclear option was already triggered when McTurtle decided to pretend a Democratic US President didn’t have the right to nominate a Supreme Court Justice…and added insult to injury by not even meeting with the man or hold hearings. Fuck these lying scumbags. Any media that goes along with their narrative, is an enabler of the worst kind.
The GOP is so blind that they cannot see that the shoe is on the other foot now,
Being a good little boy and shutting up. That’s who McCain really is: a coward who uses his war record as a shield for his gutless attitude.
The Seinfeld “yadda yadda yadda” defense in real time
“What we should have done is what we did in 2005, and that was a group of us got together, a group of us, and said, ‘Look, we won’t filibuster except under extraordinary conditions,’” he continued. Then yadda, yadda, yadda “And now, we are so polarized now, including between the two leaders, Mitch McConnell and Chuck Schumer, that there’s no communications anymore."
yadda yadda yadda in this case is the the years between 2008 and 2016 where McCain and his GOP cohorts proceeded to filibuster nearly everything. Apparently because McCain losing to a Black man IS extraordinary conditions.
Oh…and once again…Please note that McCain is NOT joining Democrats, and did NOT make any attempts to move Garland nomination forward.
Maverick = crying crocodile tears while going along with everyone.
Talk: 1. Action: 0.
Due to the extensive investigations of the Executive Branch that are underway, it would be prudent to delay any Supreme Court confirmation until these aspects of corruption are fully addressed.
Where to begin with this nonsense? ‘they get their judges & trump can’t get his’? What fcking BS is that? This is the cretin-in-chief’s FIRST fcking judge - & if we’re lucky it will be his LAST. The GOP blocked how many dozen of Obama’s judges? For what reason? None – except that Obama was a Democrat, & black to boot. Furthermore, they don’t HAVE to kill the filibuster - that’s the choice they’re making because they don’t want to use their heads, and they don’t have the guts to reject an unqualified replicant that their possibly treasonous, but definitely criminal, president nominated to help destroy the nation. Sorry to vent…& at such length. I’ll go sit in the corner.
Merrick Garland was a true middle of the road nominee. Gorsuch is hard right.
Which one was the bipartisan nomination, which one was partisan?
