Between this and the freeze on Donnie’s transgender ban, I think we’ll shortly be seeing a tweet from Hair Furor saying “Mattis has my complete confidence”. followed by the immediate strategic retreat of General Mattis from the Oval Trailer.

Every dollar of the Treasury another country gets is one personally plucked out of Trump's wallet as far as he's concerned.That’s twice this week Sec. Mattis has had to step in and clean up a mess made by his boss. he can’t keep doing that. That’s not the job of a Cabinet Secretary and it gives the impression the Administration is a rudderless ship. Mattis is a man of great achievements…it can’t end like this for him.
What scares me–along with a thousand other things in this maladministration–is that Mattis may get fired for talking sense. His boss doesn’t like sense.
It appears as though the military is doing double duty providing military services AND a diplomatic front all at once since Tillerson is all but out the door and the State Dept. no longer exists.
Ironic, since it’s the feral trumpers who don’t want the US military doing nation building abroad just killing.
We’re beyond impressions and wandering the wasteland of reality.
I gotta say, I’m seeing Mattis emerge with some strategic, diplomatic and executive skills that I wasn’t expecting. He hasn’t really wraithed himself like McMaster did on defending some Trump accusations. He seems to have manipulated Kelly into executing a partial purge of extremists and an effective coup on military and national security policies.
Maybe I transitioned to the Upside Down without knowing it.

Indeed. Short term action is needed. I’m still withholding judgement. Mattis-Kelly-McMaster triumverate prospect is still scary.
People probably are guarded in their private conversations about Trump. Seemingly everything you say makes it into the press. But I wonder if a couple guys that trust each other really open up and vent. Mattis and Tillerson. Pick a pair. I have to believe the pejoratives and disdain for Trump have to flow freely.
