Discussion: Matthews Blasts Cruz: SCOTUS 'Seized' 2000 Election, 'You Did Not Complain' (VIDEO)

The entire concept of “judicial overreach” is a conservative straw man that means when I don’t get my way, something nefarious or unconstitutional has occurred, typically having no basis in reality.

Which explains why they’re incoherent when asked to comment on their hypocrisy.

Best of all is Raphael’'s role as a lawyer for Bush in Fla. in 2000.

Smarmy and hypocritical…Just like W…scares the heck out of me… But there are plenty of people who think it would be fun to go to a bar with him… But this is what really scares me…
Always Twirling, twirling for freedom Cruz from his own commercial… I am disgusted with these rabid republicans who think it is fine to dodge military service…

Cruz is a fraud with a deep streak of megalomania … or is it the other way around?

Smarmy and so very, very punchable.

Actually feel that he’s far more devious-- than he is intelligent or quick-witted.

“That’s because that was the outcome I wanted! If I agree, then it’s a good decision.”

Any gender warriors want to weigh-in on this comment?

Be careful. Matthews didn’t exactly “hit him with facts and truth.” He let Cruz get away with the falsehood that Bush actually won the Florida vote. He let Cruz say that the ballots had been counted four times and Democrats were just petulantly wanting further recounts until it went their way.

However, a consortium of eight news organizations (including the Washington Post and New York Times) throughly went through all the ballots and concluded that Gore had indeed won. Why didn’t we hear more about this? It came out on September 12, 2001. I think it was on page 10 of the Post.

Matthews should have brought this up.

Sometimes “gotcha” questions are “gotcha” 'cause they get ya,
He is pretty open about his hypocrisy, and cynical and arrogant enough to think his constituents aren’t smart enough to see it. His assumption is usually founded. This is generally handled with a wink-and-nod approach by the media.

Or “Master Debaters”…

As the media depends on the same level of ignorance…

His ugliness is non-relevant, it is his smugness that is ugly…

I certainly don’t enjoy looking at it.

Just like with Walker, it’s not that his ugliness is a problem, it’s the stupid look on his face that makes me want to punch him…

Maybe. I think though, he lacks any ability to think strategically (which is why he can be knocked off his game) and I think someone who is devious (or perhaps successfully so) would need that ability.

He’s beginning to resemble Howdy Doody, too.

Matthews hit Cruz with lolly pop after lolly pop, then he changed the rules and asked a tough question and didn’t smile when Cruz deflected it with an approved line. Instead he gave an obvious rejoinder and Cruz folded like a cheap suit.

I actually turned it off because Matthews started off by being extremely respectful even giving credence to some of Cruz’s past statements. I am glad to know it went in this direction. With Matthews, you never which way he’s going besides his rude interruption of his guests. Yesterday after the infamous Trump interview he had a panel of folks one of which is a black reporter who covers the white house and he would ask her a question but then interrupt her and at one point she said, No! Wait a Minute, Let me Finish" I said thank goodness

They may say what’s good for the goose etc…

As we all know that Hillary will be subject to this type of attack… So I guess it’s fair in that regard.

Now if only we can find fault in whatever clothes he decides to wear and call him a lesbian, then I guess we’ll be closer to fair.

BTW, a long time since Tweety scored a photo and headline on the TPM homepage…

His problem is he is used to being the smartest person in the room, he is just normally in a room with republicans, so this means a lot less.

So, I would say he is out of shape in that regard.
