Except for the stupid ones.
Or the ones who don’t care.
Good for the woman for knowing what that hat meant and taking a picture of it. AWESOME! She might have stopped this cop from doing something really bad. Of course, the cop will probably just get another police job a few miles down the road.
Kudos to Lt. Thompson. No delay, no “thin blue line,” just a quick suspension pending the investigation.
There are certain types that gravitate to police work, I guess and hope a minority, and I imagine the other cops roll their eyes and say “don’t get him started” when they’re out having beers. The problem is when the chief is one of them. Luckily that’s not going on here. Kind of incongruous for a police officer to belong to an antigovernment extremist group.
What do you call 18 Oaf Keepers in one room?
A full set of teeth.
“Every one of my cops should know better,”
…to keep it on the QT until after Zero Day
They’re so goddam stupid they don’t even know how to spell their own name. It should be “Oaf Keepers,” of course.
It’s hard to imagine that a country as large as America has cornered the market on angry one inchers.
Sometimes I think it’s unfortunate that the GOP has poisoned the idea of an Unamerican Activities Committee.
The KKK by any other name still smells like white fright.
Sounds rigged to me.
And cue the police union rep screaming in 3…2…1.
“Good Lord, it’s 2016. Every one of my cops should know better,” Altomare told the station.
I love it. A good reminder that for every bad officer in a police force, there are a dozen good officers just trying to serve the community and tired of these dicks fucking it up for everyone…
The media has rightly called attention to “gypsy cop” phenomenon of officers simply shuffling from department to department to escape disciplinary action and termination. What doesn’t get mentioned enough is how the other officers in their department view them. I know a lot of cops, and they all see these individuals as embarrassments to the force they have to put up with because of state law and Police Union policy.
The reality ids that smart people don’t usually become cops.
Anne Arundel County Police Chief Timothy Altomare told WBAL that he suspended his officer for promoting the group while on duty less than a day after receiving Thompson’s police report.
“Good Lord, it’s 2016. Every one of my cops should know better,” Altomare told the station.
Good for him for avoiding bureaucratic boilerplate equivocating speech.
Well, I know a number who are very clear exceptions to that assertion.
However, I also know a number of ones that fit into the category of the numbskull in this story…
I like that Police Chief. No, “We will investigate” or “It is a personnel matter”
Got the complaint, took action.
You know, I’ve been thinking about this lately…but one of the side effects of unequal enforcement of law on minorities is the only cohort that would be inclined to go into law enforcement who can still qualify are white guys from a certain background who probably had things ‘slide’ in their favor when they were youths.
I have to think there’s a correlation here.
Any law enforcement officer or active-duty military who belong to this extremist anti-government group should be summarily fired or drummed out of the service.
Period.
Full stop.
