Discussion: Manafort: Trump Still Not Going To Release His Tax Returns

Of course he won’t release the returns. Waaaaaay too much to hide. Net worth. Russian financing. Charitable un-donations.

Within the Trump campaign, and with Donald himself, there is a palpable fear in divulging the contents of his tax returns. I think if some imaginary entity decreed either he release them or drop out of the race the GOP would find itself scrambling to replace him on the ticket.

Reading the comments on British newspaper sites gives one an education in new, creative curse words. The Brits have a word for people like Manafort: MUNT

Trump to voter: DROP DEAD

Manafort did not say whether Russia has invested in Trump

There’s our answer.

" It has nothing to do with any country other than the United States and his normal tax auditing processes."
Did the person asking him the question just yell “YOU LIE!” After he said that? Because if not then they are terrible at their job.

“Mr. Trump has said that his taxes are under audit, and he will not be releasing them,” he said. “It has nothing to do with Russia. It has nothing to do with any country other than the United States and his normal tax auditing processes.”

Can someone please cite the IRC section that says you cannot release your tax returns to a third party when you are being audited?

If the “audit” is really the hold up (though that makes no sense), then last year’s returns will do, until the audit is complete.

We can only assume he is so indebted to the Russian government that his businesses will all go broke if he does not win and turn over every classified piece of information in the US Government to the Russian government.

Yes, the next question should be, “why won’t you release your returns from the years that aren’t being audited?”

That’s an excellent point. I haven’t heard anyone make it before.

I guess that translating the returns from Russian would be too time consuming and might make a few errors in translation. And there’s MATH in them always difficult to parse from Cyrillic.

Probably not worth it.

“But does Russia have investments in Trump?”

Zombie Fourth Estate has arisen and is hungryyyyyyy!!!

Seriously, it’s like the level of idiocy finally reached such a blistering crescendo that it woke some shambling semblance of journalism from the dead. She deserves kudos for so directly and clearly highlighting the issue and putting him to the question.

Although Trump is saying it:

“So you have no loans from Russian banks or investors?” DeFede asked.

“Absolutely not,” Trump insisted.

Still, leaves the door open for many other non-specific financial transactions.

I used to compare this guy to Goebbels, but he may actually be better.

On the Russia thing, Trump must seem approachable at least. Donald Trump is a kind of American Oligarch, or at least that is how he brands himself.

Of course he won’t release his tax returns…they will only show he’s a fraud.

Seriously, I hope Bloomberg dives into this question. He’s got the means, the motivation, and the media.

There isn’t one. Under Federal law your tax returns are your personal property, to do with as you please.

Form 8821, Tax Information Authorization
File this form to:
Authorize any individual, corporation, firm, organization, or partnership you designate to inspect and/or receive your confidential information verbally or in writing for the type of tax and the years or periods listed on the form.

And his supporters who would be screaming for Hillary’s returns if she pulled this stunt are defending it saying; his tax returns are no ones business, but his own.
