Discussion: Man Arrested For Wearing 'Basket Of Deplorables' Shirt At Texas Polling Place

Mauthe was taken to jail for electioneering and released
the same day after posting a $700 bond,

Even Trump’s own supporters would rather spend their money elsewhere —

It’s no wonder the barrel bottomers don’t have extra to spend on his campaign —

I voted this week at my local parks building. I finished early and was waiting just outside the entry door for my wife to finish (she’s a “slow voter”–brings papers in, knows which judges to support, etc.).

People kept looking at me sideways as they entered, I was wondering why. It never occurred to me that someone might think I was a poll watcher. Ha! They probably thought ,“I thought the Trumpian poll watchers would be more hard-core military-prepper types, not pasty doofus-geeks who mumble to themselves.”

This here anti-Constipationalist action by that SOCIALIST JACKBOOT LIBERAL-LEFT POLICE OFFICER is another reason that we here at the Conservative Revival Association of Plano (C.R.A.P.) are advocatin’ for every True American poll-watcher to bring his weapon and his concealed carry permit with him. This kind of BIAS against REAL Americans has got to stop!

The phrase got a lot of attention in the campaign, so there is no question that it is a political statement related to the current election. Whether or not it was a violation of the relevant statutes is a question for the justice system, but I think there is no doubt that the police had good cause to ask him to conceal the message or leave the 100-ft protected zone.

Thanks - I know. There are charges in Nevada.

I’m really irked with the federal prosecutors who were responsible for this shit. Really really irked. Bad goddamn lawyering.

The thing was a bit of a cockup anyway - they dismissed a juror in the middle of it and should have gone to a mistrial right then - they could have started over.

Obviously, Republican state officials who oversee the operation are incompetent.

Vote Democratic.

I’m happy, so long as the police continue to do their jobs properly. This man is an obvious idiot, and now he will pay the price. Done.

How much you wanna bet when he goes in front of a magistrate on this charge in Texas, he’ll be let off and refunded his $700 bond minus perhaps small chump change resulting from a processing fee?

Possibly. It’s not the world’s biggest crime.

Its also not much a deterrent to an offense at a polling place when that happens either.

Well like I said =- this happens a number of times during every election and both sides try it.

So the rule is somewhat of a deterrent but you know, civil disobedience.

OMFG! ____ I wasn’t aware that people who support Hair’ Drumpf are required to follow any laws…and especially federal laws. You know, sort of like taking over federal property with guns! :scream:

Further…He’s very lucky he is white. Were he ‘of color’ he could have been riddled with bullets just to calm him down…cause’ Texas!

Comal County voted 76% to 22% for Romney in 2012, so I guess this is an example of Republican governmental political correctness run amuck.

I actually remember a time when people engaged in “rigorous” debate before an election… But on the very day … when people were voting …
Everyone would keep their views and their vote intent private …

Found to be way too PC I guess …
