Trump told the crowds inside El Paso County Coliseum that 69,000 people had signed up to attend. “The arena holds 8,000 and, thank you fire department, they got in about 10 [thousand],” he said. “But if you really want to see something, go outside. Tens of thousands of people are watching screens outside.”

According to reports, a spokesman for El Paso fire department said the president’s claim was incorrect, and that only 6,500 people were allowed inside – the building’s capacity.

“Tens of thousands of people are watching in my fevered imagination.”

We see Trump’s base is in campaign mode. I hope the guy was arrested.

is there another mode?

Fat Nixon only has one gear, and it’s certainly not policy making or leadership.

How sure are we that Man-Who-Incites-Violence was giving the thumbs up to Skeans, and not his attacker?

Because, knowing Trump as we all do, the latter seems way more likely.

According to the instruction manual, other modes include: assault, attack, concentration camp guard, frog-march, jackboot thug, victim, whine, what-about, and heel. But an addendum note says heel mode is currently non-functional and that the owner should put Trump’s Base into whine, what-about, or victim mode to calm it down instead.

So, ignorant, violent, drunk, redneck Trump fan assaults someone.

Note: Descriptive adjectives are superfluous.

I see we’ve switched to “Finish the Wall”. How pathetic. The big con is right there, in big bold letters, on stage behind Trump for all of the world to see. Yet his un-merry band of slobbering fascists still all show up for these things.

Trump’s “base” at work. The same persons who are stirred by demagogues. The rest of us are appalled. This is one victim. It could just as well been a group of victims beaten by Trump brown shirts.

Does anyone know if this attacker was arrested, or was he just allowed to go home and pop open another beer?

It’s a spin to cover the fact that Spankee ain’t never gonna get his big fat wall funding.

Because it implies that something has already been built (just not when and by whom).

So they’re coding it as a “win” which the MAGAts will swallow whole (I remember reading somewhere that a not insignficant percentage of the MAGAts actually already believe the wall has been built…)

Pretty clever propaganda move there, if you ask me. (And way up at the top of the “dirty tricks” list, but, hey, so what else is new?)

ETA: and right on schedule Fux &Friends is congratulating Spankee on the compromise deal which, IIRC, is pretty much back down to the original level (ca $1bn) that was on offer months ago… Bestest deal maker ev-uh…

Lack of follow-up news coverage on this means the answers are “no” and “yes” in that order.

Plus: it’s only BBC, so just another friggin’ furriner anyway. /s

Why stop there? As long as the base has no interest in facts or reality, just say, “The wall is completed - long live the wall!” and throw in that Mexico paid for it after all.

“the blow so blindsiding him”.

Another Trumptard showing Trump he is as brave as The Republican Congress is as long as everyone has their backs turned.

You could poll 1000 Trump loyalists today and pose a multiple choice query, “Donald Trump has finished either 10, 100, or 1000 miles of southern border wall since taking office?” and over half the nitwits would pick 1000.

I agree with you, but tRump’s intent really doesn’t matter because I’m sure the crowd saw it as a nod to violence, not, in any way, a concern for a member of the press.

Wearing a MAGA hat has started making them feel like it gives them superhero powers particularly at a rally.

Deluded souls, every last one of them.
