Discussion: Local TX GOP Recruits Poll Watchers With Claim Of 'Voter Fraud' In Dem Areas

“We want to make sure OUR VOTER ID LAW IS FOLLOWED”…So make sure to bring it to our attention if you catch any non white Texan voting.

Our voter ID law must be enforced.

“Tarrant County GOP’s poll watchers will be told that if they see anything suspicious, if they see our law not being followed, to pick up the phone and call headquarters.”

Anything suspicious.

Like someone voting while black.

Maybe wearing a hijab or kippah.

Something like that.

Unbelievable, but then it’s Texas. If any voters are actually intimidated by these goons, take a picture of the offender, and get on the line with the FBI. This is ridiculous, and should be illegal. It’s disgusting how desperate the GOP is that they fear people exercising their rights. News flash, Orange Julius Caesar is going to LOSE and I couldn’t not be happier.

Yaweh, I’d like a dollar for every time I’ve used the word “odious” to describe HO and his enablers this election cycle.

As an aside, I never really liked the term “Deplorables” when Hillary first used it. I didn’t object to her characterizing HO’s supporters that way, it’s just the term didn’t seem to have enough “punch” to it. I realize now it makes them all seem as innocent and acceptable as Gru and his minions from “Despicable Me” - they really aren’t all that bad, once you get to know them!

No, these people are voluntarily scraping the bottom of the barrel, hence my preference for the term “odious” to describe them…

Yeah it’s Texas and Tarrant County will vote Democratic regardless of the brain dead “poll watchers.”

I like the term, “odious.” But, can you imagine the brouhaha that would have ensued had Hillary said “odious” rather than “deplorable?” The pharmacies would have run out of smelling salts within half an hour!

Yeah and a complaint has already been filed with the DOJ, so this isn’t going to happen in a vacuum if armed crackers show up at “democratic” polling places.

edit - I wonder if they’ll bother trying to harass white Democrats, because the entire area around TCU is pretty liberal.

I was a volunteer poll watcher once in an area where trouble (intimidation) was thought possible. Our instructions were to look for unusual happenings and call it in if we saw something iffy.

Even though we were out there to see what was happening I never got a notice like that.

The republicans are a pox upon the United States. They are not patriots, they are not Constitutionalists, they are not Christians, they have no values except greed, bigotry and blatant partisanship. It is well past time to rid the country of them and their miserable, corrupt, lying ways. Fortunately they have shoen a candidate who has unmasked their vile souls for all to see and we have the power of the ballot in 20 days.

As Jean Luc Picard said repeatedly, “Make it so!”

“…Democrats will do everything they can to buy, steal, and cheat their way to victory at the ballot box.”

Yes, the Democrats are SO good at rigging elections. That’s why they control the US Senate. And in Ohio, while 40% of the vote in the 2014 US congressional election were Democratic, the result was them winning a whole 25% of the seats. Yes, they are very accomplished at getting the results they want.

If DKos is right about this and I believe it is right - more votes have been cast for Democrats by a huge margin in the last I don’t know how many elections. Because of gerrymandering, it doesn’t do any good anymore to have the most votes.

They really aren’t democratic anymore and they talk about revolution all the time - we need to revolution their asses out of government since all they do is destroy things.

It is an article of faith among Tx republicans that there is wide spread voter fraud happening in every election.

They even funded an investigation for find it a few years back - and found NOTHING. Didn’t stop them from continuing to bleat about it OR passing their stupid, unconstitutional voter ID law.

Facts are like kryptonite to them.

I think Pennsylvania is even worse.

Gerrymandering, thankfully, only impacts the House of Reprehensibles on the federal level. Senate and Presidemt, no impact.

I wonder if the Tarrant County Democratic Party or NAACP or local churches have signed volunteers up for the training?

@becca656 unfortunately what we see at the federal level is obstructionism. It’s at the state level. where Repug gerrymandering is just as bad, that the insidious laws are passed by ALEC brownnosers. Then we get into the endless cycle of court cases, accusations of “activist” judges, “culture war” grievances, and increased RWNJ turnout at the following election, leading to gerrymandering, etc.

@bamclaugh seems to me the consent decree has already saddled them with the intimidation reputation. Too bad there isn’t some branch of society that could look deeper into it, perhaps investigate facts and figures, then write them up in a widely disseminated form that would draw proper attention and make people pay attention. Perhaps one day that branch of society could afflict the comfortable and comfort the afflic … NAH! (channeling my inner Steve Martin.)

Am I to understand that it’s OK for GOPers to lie cheat and steal?
Snark aside the likelihood of voter fraud is about 1/10th the probability of getting struck by lightening.
