Considering it’s the kind of move that people have always criticized Nader and Stein et al. for not making, I assume Breckenridge is in for a lot of praise.
The whole of Libertarianism seems to be Republicanism with a side of weed. I just hope it’s too late in the game to matter.
These things seldom work. There’s a reason why Breckenridge’s supporters didn’t support Rosendale. Some of them, undoubtedly, will move to Tester, who’s not exactly a big-government liberal.
(If I were Tester’s people, I’d spend the next few days saying “What kind of Libertarian is Breckenridge, thinking he can tell people who to vote for?”)
Never forget: Libertarian is just a synonym for Republican.
As a Montana resident I find myself wondering how much money changed hands on that deal. Outside repug money fully funded the Green Party here enabling them to field a full slate of candidates. Fortunately the Green Senate candidate was tossed for irregularities on the signature petitions.
Actually, not in my experience with Libertarians. They think number 1 first…
But other Libertarians argue my experiences are not the true L way.

I have gathered that most Montanans vote by mail so I agree this might not matter much.
Since Libertarians are basically pot-smoking Republicans, what did anyone expect?
Breckenridge was mad about a mailer sent out without the name of the person or group responsible for the piece.
So mad, in fact, that he threw his support behind a candidate that had voted against a measure requiring such disclosure on mailers.
The Stein equivalent would have been to drop out of the race and support Trump, because Clinton had proposed tighter border security.
The apparent self-contradiction disappears if we don’t believe the reason he gave for quitting.
Proving one again that Libertarians are just Republicans who don’t want to be held responsible for the results of Republican policies (destitution, war, pollution, etc…)
Also, they want to smoke dope.
I object to this overly benign view of Libertarians in the US. There are a modest number of libertarians who are live-and-let-live types. The vast majority, however, appear to favor a dystopia of competition where it is you against everybody else and the government’s only role is to protect the property of those who have enough power to demand such protection.
Libertarians are an abomination to weed smokers everywhere.
I stand corrected. That’s exactly what Libertarianism is. It’s like they want the world to be Game of Thrones.
It’s not surprising since Libertarians began as Goldwater conservatives who smoked dope. Guess one had to smoke dope in order to toleration the nonsense of AuH2O. And they still have to.
