Yup, he knows he’s in trouble
Why do they all keep repeating the ‘never compensated’ meme? That should be a red light more than an exoneration. Not being on the books works just fine for a outfit that likes to cook the books.
Lewandowski’s remark to Page that he ‘not pretend’ is most probably a lie. Page was a member of the team, he did not have to pretend he was, if he needed to pretend, it was only to international press, and it was only until he was in contact with Russian agents.
The increase in memory due to contact with Mueller should be getting write ups in medical journals. Thanks sjk.
There were an amazing amount of low-level employees in their campaign. at this point it was only trump, bannon and kushner, surrounded by coffee boys. That’s a LOT of coffee for just 3 people. plus they made all those coffee boys wear suits and ties and let them sit at the conference table - but gave them nothing to do until the lunch order. that’s an odd campaign…
I also remember fondly the Republican who, on father’s day was “hiking the Appalachian Trail” - leaving his 4 sons at home, such was his paternal devotion…
“And so when a low-level volunteer decides that they want to take a trip overseas and doesn’t report to me or work for the organization,"
First of all, anyone who works for Trump is a “low-level volunteer,” given his contempt for the human race, and propensity to stiff anyone who does work for him.
But didn’t you forget to say that Carter Page’s main function was to serve coffee? Perhaps this will refresh your recollection.
When Andrew Weissmann asks you to be absolutely sure of your answer I imagine you start to recall a lot of stuff you’ve previously disclaimed knowledge of.
When he’s done with you you go home, change your underwear, and clean the urine out of your socks.
Lewandowski sure seems to remember a lot of details for not remembering the email.
" please do not pretend to be part of the campaign and say that you are part of the campaign.”"
does not pas the smell test. Everyone and everyone at that time reported that he was Donald Trump’s foreign policy advisor
"The question and answer portion of the event at times descended into farce, as he even refused to answer the question on whether he was a “good person”, saying “I don’t really have any comments on that at this stage”.
What he tells a news anchor is irrelevant. What he tells Mueller’s grand jury matters. Mueller’s team will know what Lewandowski actually knows, whether Corey wants to fess to it or not. They’d prefer he perjure himself, it won’t hide anything from them, and later on Corey can spill his guts in exchange for getting his testicles back.
Funny how being caught out as a liar with an electronic paper trail suddenly helps the memory.
Was this woman actually committing public journalism on FOX of all places?
Wow.
There are a somewhat benign few lines from Carter Page’s testimony that I keep fixating on, and it’s because I think it’s a tell that he is lying and covering up a lot more than what he revealed (which itself was a lot) to Adam Schiff.
On Page 107-108 of the transcript, Schiff asks Page about his meeting with Andrey Baranov, head of investor relations for Rosneft. While Page claims they are old friends, Page says he was reintroduced to Baranov by “some mutual friends we had who were in one of the banks”.
Per Page, this meeting was not arranged in advance but was “around the same time” as the trip. Page conceded that he had a phone conversation with Baranov while he was in Moscow to arrange the meeting.
They met at a group event at a bar in Moscow where people were gathered to watch what Page described as the “Europa Cup”. It was actually the semi-final of the European Championships between Portugal and Wales. That match took place on Wednesday, July 6th, 2016. Portugal won 2-0.
He spoke at this conference over the next 2 days: July 7th, 2016 (Thursday) and July 8th, 2016 (Friday).
Here’s another line from page 139-40 of the testimony:
Schiff is grilling Page about Page’s visit with Baranov (again- the director of investor relations for Rosneft) whom Page has known for a decade back in his days at Gazprom.
“SCHIFF:…Did you or did you not discuss with Mr. Baranov in July a potential sale of a significant percentage of Rosneft?”
“PAGE: I can’t recall any discussion.”
“SCHIFF: So you may have but you don’t recall.”
“PAGE: He [BARANOV] may have briefly mentioned it when we were looking up from this Portugal-Ronaldo, whoever the–you know, the goals that are being scored. That may have come up. But I have no definitive recollection of that. And, certainly, what ever came up, certainly, was my involvement in any - that type of a transaction”.
These two passages tell me the following:
-
Page met Baranov before he spoke at this conference. He must have arrived in Moscow on Wednesday, July 6th, 2016 in the morning or earlier (this match started at 2 pm Moscow time) in order to make this meeting with Baranov. It seems like he landed in Moscow and got in touch with Baranov almost immediately and Baranov invited him to attend this event at a Moscow bar to watch the Portugal-Wales match. Given that he was reintroduced to Baranov by mutual friends from banks, it’s quite likely that Russian intel arranged this meeting. These banks are likely the state controlled banks (VEB or Sberbank are possibilities). They are run by Putin.
-
The other thing I note is that Page isn’t a real soccer fan. He mistook ‘Europa’ for the European Championships. The Europa League is an annual European wide international soccer cup tournament that runs the length of the football season and is for teams that didn’t qualify or were booted out early from the UEFA Champions League. They are not played by national teams but by private clubs.
It tells me that Page was not at all interested in the soccer (though the Russians most likely were), but he would’ve been more focused on the reason for their meeting. Baranov may have been more casual about it. In other words, when Page says ‘I don’t know we were focused on soccer’ he’s lying. He had no interest in it. He was interested in Baranov and in delivering for Trump. He used that ‘soccer’ reference to deflect from Schiff’s inquiry because it made him feel uncomfortable. It tells me that Page was an emissary for Manafort to deliver a message and that he was placed in a meeting with Rosneft investor relations for the purpose of talking about a quid pro quo. My working theory of that quid pro quo is that Russia dangled a portion of the Rosneft sale in exchange for an effort to lift sanctions and to change US policy regarding Ukraine.
UPDATE: The Steele Dossier says that Page met an associate of Igor Sechin. Baranov appears to be that associate. This is on page 9 of the dossier. I picture this event taking place in a private room of a restaurant/bar with TVs, a dedicated bartender and tables/standing area. Sechin may have been at this meeting (as the Dossier) but Page may not have known who he was and Baranov may not have told him.
These people don’t un-lie very well, do they.
Lewandowski is one of the many, many amazing things that surround Trump in the sense of “how is this even a thing?” How is a man like this, of such obvious poor temperament and mediocre intelligence making millions and getting interviewed constantly on television? How is Lewandowski still a “thing”?
They’re terrible at it. They are also terrible about concocting conspiracies that make no sense. They’re just really bad at all of this including the lying part.
I have done email searches on the most random of topics through tens of thousands of old emails from over 20 years. In 15 seconds I have found old recipes, photos and emails from friends containing change of addresses in seconds.
If I were subject to Congressional or FBI, I could supply copies of all my emails from any given party, sequentially in a binder, within an hour.
So, no, not buying it, dipshit. You only remember what you are forced too, because you know you’re up to your neck in it.
“Well, no — you have to remember, in the context of the campaign world – now, my memory has been refreshed — but to be clear, from what I understand and what I recall, that email was sent on June 19th of 2016, so about 18 months ago,” he said. “It also happened to be Father’s Day on a Sunday, and it also happened to be the day prior to me being terminated from the campaign, so with all due respect, there were many other things on my mind that day other than trying to understand why a volunteer was telling me he may or may not be traveling outside the country.”
Such BS. As if this occurred in some vacuum and there wasn’t half the campaign speaking in russian on a daily basis
and he sure remembers quite a bit of what was happening around the time he received the email, but not the email, huh?
and why would getting fired on the NEXT day impact you on the day BEFORE you were fired?
he’s a modern day traitor to his country, this is more of his 15 minutes, he’s going to have at least a paragraph in this chapter of the future US history books, we all remember Benedict Arnold
Memory refreshed? Sounds like some sort of Manchurian candidate.
