And the thing of it is they are not even very good liars. What Lewandowski said doesn’t even make any sense. Everything they do is so ham handed.
I’ve thought that same thing. Nixon was paranoid and very far from honest, and he was subverting the system of government. But I think most of the time he acknowledged implicitly that some things were true and others were lies, and he knew when he was lying. His administration, while thuggish enough, understood the public service thing in a general way. He got some worthwhile stuff done.
But these guys—no regard for honesty whatsoever, no understanding that people value it. It’s 100 percent manipulation with them, you take and take and take, pure and simple, like a bunch of two-bit grifters. The boss is an out-and-out malignant narcissist, and most of the time he’s what you might call emotionally delusional, simply not aware of reality. Negative stories are ipso facto dishonest, opposition is because a person is bad. As bad as Nixon was, these people are far, far worse.
