When the laws you seek to defend are absurd, the arguments you use to defend them will be equally absurd. In this case, the GOP has, once again, managed to go lower than anyone thought possible.
Kentucky has also argued that it has an economic interest in banning same sex marriage because such a ban would promote procreation by heterosexual couples.
Do they realize that the vast majority of homosexuals are born to heterosexual couples?
I saw “Betty” doing improv in LA years ago; wonderful stuff!
Yeah, I’m kind of in that camp. The arguments that he’s making are approaching performance art…
“Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear (D) argued in a brief filed to the Supreme
Court last week that his state’s ban on gay marriage is not
discriminatory because it does not allow gay or straight people to marry
people of the same sex.”
By God that’s some deep deep understanding there.
Gee, if I was as stupid as a GOPer I could make $174,000 a yr and have a financially comfortable life.
Edit: I know the gov is a democrat. I’m still referring to epic Repub derp.
Pretty slick move, but still bullshit. Damn shame too, this governor has done so much for his state with the ACA it is kind of difficult to see him being such an ass. Oh well, you know the ACA is really just a republican idea, so maybe this is not out of his realm.
This reminds me of the argument: Of course gay people can get married! They just need to marry someone of the opposite sex.
