That one has been beaten to death already and never gained much traction.

One of the things I’ve been enjoying about the Canadian TV series Murdoch Mysteries is every so often a “marriage of convenience” pops up and shows the toll that forcing a gay man and a lesbian to get married to meet societal expectations can have. Or worse, when a lesbian or gay man is forced by societal expectations to marry a straight person.

Wow, I wonder if Conway will have to come down on this question…

“Kentucky’s marriage laws treat Whites and Negros the same and are facially neutral. Men and women, whether White or Negro, are free to marry persons of the same race under Kentucky law, and men and women, whether White or Negro cannot marry persons of the different races under Kentucky law,”

-edited for comparison

It wasn’t right then; it isn’t right now, Guv.

“Kentucky marriage laws treat homosexuals and heterosexuals the same and are facially neutral. Men and women, whether heterosexual or homosexual, are free to marry persons of the opposite sex under Kentucky law, and men and women, whether heterosexual or homosexual, cannot marry persons of the same sex under Kentucky law,”

This quote reminds me of another quote from Billy Madison:

“What you’ve just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.”

Holy crap, I think I sprained something trying to follow that twisted ‘logic’.

It should be noted that Beshear has been accused of intentionally trying to throw this case in the past. This would seem to be further evidence of that theory.

God, how I wish I believed that this rhetorical contortion was an April Fool’s Day joke. But it’s not. It’s a REPUBLICAN FOOLS DAY joke.

Good reference there. Lol.

You mean he’s intentionally offering a goofy argument to queer the case?
I like that.

Conway has already come down on this and the Gov did not get his help.

Well, dayum!

That was next on my agenda.

Kentucky politicians are followers not leaders. Poverty is the reason for Kynect.

‘queer the case’- this made me laugh. Seriously though, it would be awesome if this was a giant con by Beshear to get gay marriage legalized in KY. The Louisville Courier put forth the ‘throwing the case’ theory last year. Notice this argument is coming out on April Fool’s Day? Beshear could be laughing his ass off behind closed doors.

No, not INO. He’s the Democrat who built out the best state-run exchange in the country and expanded Medicaid in a red state.

He’s also kind of a fundie nut, but on balance and given the alternatives, I’ll take it.
