Discussion: KY Gov. On Gay Marriage Ban: Straight People Can't Marry Same Sex Either

If Kentucky Dems talks like this, imagine the yuck coming out of the Kentucky republicans.

Oh Lincoln, why didn’t you let them secede !

“Kentucky has also argued that it has an economic interest in banning same sex marriage because such a ban would promote procreation”

Why doesn’t Kentucky have an economic interest in banning sterile heterosexuals from marriage? Such a ban would promote procreation.

Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear (D) argued in a brief filed to the Supreme Court last week that his state’s ban on gay marriage is not discriminatory because it does not allow gay or straight people to marry people of the same sex.

Last week? He does understand that the Supremes usually vote on cases the same week in which oral arguments are made, right? This case is probably already decided; we just don’t know the ruling yet.

Moron.

Well, it’s a Red State that still has a Democratic governor and legislature, so it wasn’t an impossible mission.

Quite the anachronism, the Commonwealth is.

Every day is Republican Fools’ Day.

Is that the slogan on their license plates?

They haven’t heard arguments yet.

Oh, god. She’s dumb as Palin.

That’d be a relief – I was hoping it was snark when I read the headline, because it just seemed too stupid from a governor who’d been a champ on the ACA… Hope it’s true.

“Shortly thereafter, Gov. Beshear apologized and explained that he had just purchased a new brain and ‘some adjustments were still needed.’ The Sony, the manufacturer, declined to comment.”

Anti-miscegnation laws were Constitutional for the very same reason. Just as blacks couldn’t marry whites, so whites couldn’t marry blacks. Everyone was treated equally!

How to obtain instant enlightenment for the Gov:

Inquire if he would find it discriminatory if both gays and straights could only marry people of the same sex?

Everybody treated the same, right, Gov?

He’s also the Democrat who’s upheld the grant of many millions of dollars in public monies and tax breaks to that religiotic Ark Park that’s - SURPRISE! - managed to pull off not only the trick of reconciling the Ark legend to the enormous wealth of evidence to the contrary (by, AOT, having cave men ride dinosaurs), but also to be simultaneously a massive boondoggle on the public purse, an utter failure on its own goofy terms, a blight on the landscape, a commercial disaster, and a huge embarrassment for the state as a whole, with no end in sight.

Well, yeah, there’s a reason he’s called “Dino Steve,” not “DINO Steve.”

Smash cut to 1925:

“Kentucky’s marriage laws treat whites and coloreds the same and are facially neutral. Men and women, whether white or colored are free to marry persons of the same race under Kentucky law, and men and women, whether white or colored cannot marry persons of a different race under Kentucky law.”

Kentucky: “Destroying logic and justice since 1792.”

Huh?

Mommy, my head hurts from all these grownups talking out of their ass.

And why exactly would they want one?!

Expect Judge Scalia to be sympathetic to this argument.
