Discussion: Key Governors Come Out Against Senate's Latest Obamacare Repeal Bill

I wish stories like these were getting more play.

Good ol’ Citizens United. :rage:

I’m not sure some on the far left want a big enough tent that will hold lots of different-looking people.

That’s one of the biggest problems. It’s weird too that now we’re not only accused of being {gasp} moderates, but we’re also accused by the left of identity politics for embracing diversity and women’s rights.

IF that isn’t the plain definition of weird, I don’t know what is. But then we’re not in the right universe anymore.

ON A POSITIVE NOTE: Apparently Pence begged Manchin to vote for the repeal bill and Joe told him to take a hike. It’s a good sign they’re still desperate for votes.
[/quote]Thank you for this positive news - I was sure a few days ago that the GOP had this vote sewed up.

They want a pup tent for themselves and those who think exactly the same way.
Everyone else is a DINO to them.
Because they’re stupid and selfish.

What these Republicans seem not to understand is that anything they do on a one party basis can be undone when the Democrats eventually regain control of Congress. Only a bipartisan solution is sustainable. Passage of this bill practically guarantees Medicare for all when the Democrats have the opportunity.

Proving once again that Repuglicans do not understand the law of unintended consequences.

Nah they just want someone to give them everything they want without having to do anything for it

you can add to that list John Bel Edwards from Bill Cassidy’s gret stet of Louisiana.

OK, the Kochs have made their demand. I believe it.
The GOP can call anything “Tax Reform”–and they’re doing it.
If circumstances change, and ACA stays, you think the Koch’s will give zero?
I wish
So this doesn’t mean much.

Manchin knows what his constituents want. That’s a reasonable position for a Senator to take. It sucks on some things (coal, coal, coal), but it’s unbelievably stupid of deep blue state liberals/progressives to trash Manchin when the certain alternative is another deep red state fringe crazy Republican Senator.

Yeah. I know.

Which makes the republicans’ desire to help their constituents into a health care grave even worse.

My god. Saw Katy Tur trying to get a straight answer from Barrasso about the cost of the Graham-Cassidy disaster compared to the ACA. Not only did he tap dance as fast as he could, he talked over her and never did answer the question.

I’ve decided that republican voters have been abused for so long that they’ve learned to accept it. No questions asked. It’s really quite sad.

Well maybe there are enough sane Republicans to stop this again. Makes way more sense to fix what we have or go with the rest of the civilized world and make healthcare and education a right and not a privilege. Solve two big problems in one swoop. I hate this jack ass of a fake Pres and his followers. All are a HUGE embarrassment to us all.

Vote next year for as many democrats as you can reasonably support.

But first, go to Amazon and see if you can buy a snark detector. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Good move.

You see one senator is trying to prevent states from going to a single payer system…so much for states rights

Well, the GOP cabal just got 15 GOP governors like the despicable Scott Walker to sign on to this dreadful bill.

Whoa.

My Obamacare repeal meter has gone down to 40% as of this evening. It was at 50% yesterday and 45% today. Graham doesn’t have the votes, and McConnell’s whipping didn’t really sell, and I’m not sure how hard he whipped.

Dems had a good day with GOP Govs issuing clear 'no’s and AMA and other groups criticizing the bill.

I am not declaring victory as any one of these GOP Sens can flip and change the course of this. Just saying that I don’t think the GOP was able to push the momentum today that they had on Monday, and Dems pushed back. With Trump’s bizarre UN speech out of the way, there will be more focus on this bill. Graham also telegraphed that they’re not going to be in session Rosh Hashanah, which probably means they lose the whole weekend.

This looks like a show for the GOP donor class. They keep screaming that doing nothing is not an option, but those clowns aren’t going anywhere. Does anyone really believe they won’t fund the GOP in a mid-term election? Come on.
