Discussion: Kerry Blasts Netanyahu: He's 'Wrong' On Iran Deal Like He Was On Iraq War

Discussion for article #233678

I wonder could John mean this:

“… there is no question whatsoever that Saddam is seeking and is working and is advancing towards the development of nuclear weapons – no question whatsoever. If you take out Saddam, I guarantee you that it will have enormous positive reverberations on the region.”

I know a perfect time to announce a deal with Iran…

Hey John, YOU voted for the Iraq War. Yes, you are much better than BB, but let’s not go talking about getting it wrong on Iraq please. You knew exactly what you were voting for, and you did it so that when you ran in 2004 you would not be perceived as “anti-war”. And a lot of people died, and it was a huge factor in our economy collapsing. So lose the attitude.

This is good. Rice earlier today was a good slam as well. Need the Dems to stay away in obvious numbers tho. Make it clear it’s a RWNJ grandstand.

Oh give it a break. You should take some of your own advise and lose the attitude.

ann curry was on hardball last nite and made a comment i’d not heard before… that right after 9/11 the iranians offered the u.s. a deal to cap centrifuges at 168 – but were rejected. and now, 14 years later, we’re negotiating to cap at 1000s…

I know Bibi thinks the entire world revolves around him, and that he has veto power over any US foriegn policy decisions, but I think, finally, Obama is tired of taking his s**t. Just as Netenyahu injected himself into the last campaign against Obama, and has continued to build settlements and fight the peace process in defiance of the president, it looks like Obama is using Israel’s election time to strike back.

Voters in Israel know Bibi was a huge cheerleader for the Iraq war, and they know they are not safer because of it. Kerry was not so gently reminding them of that. Don’t be surprised to see a series of high profile snubs aimed that showing how Netanyahu is screwing up relations with the US between now and election day. This trip to America could end up hurting way more than it helps him get re-elected.

With no more elections to win, Obama doesn’t have to take Bibi’s crap. AIPAC holds no sway over him, so he can do what he thinks is best, and that will not be what a warmongering right winger like Netanyahu wants. Its about damned time.

Just think of how our Israel policy would go if Israel turned away from its right wing. Then, think of what happens is Americans elect a Republican President who takes $200 million from Sheldon Addleson. I pick alternate reality 1.

Talk about picking at an old scab. It’s been fun watching Twitter just light-up with the predictable “Kerry has no room to talk” re-hash of the 2002 vote.

Have you looked at the whip count. Too damn many Democrats are going to attend. We need to tell them that attendance will be scored by the Democratic base.

Yes, I saw that; and of course we already knew Iran helped us in Afghanistan in 2001 (border crossing and more), for which they were rewarded with membership in the “axis of evil.” (How I hate when my, “O for a time machine back to Florida 2000” reflex is triggered…)

There was nothing wrong with taking out Saddam. The mistake BB was pushing was the idiotic war, he is truly an idiot.

The Clinton Admin had come up with the Iraqi Liberation Act. It called for funding a coup to take out Saddam, BUT keeping the Sunni in power to keep the region stable. It called for no more than $100 mil spent, and NO US troops (just some covert ops). THAT was the right move, but the Republicans wanted an all out invasion and war. Total idiocy. And indeed BB was all for the invasion, occupation, and war.

And then the Bush Admin gave contracts for phones in Iraq to an Israeli company …what a brilliant move that was.

Well, he did listen to BB and vote for the war, yes?

I also saw Curry and had seen similar reports elsewhere - sorry I can’t remember where. The other reports also noted that we had also refused to negotiate when the number was not 168, but zero! Cheney’s rationale was “we don’t negotiate with evil.” So there you have it.
