Less $ for electricity = more $ for opiods. The redcaps should be dancing in the streets. (less coal dust for blackface photos, though, so there is a downside.)

266 jobs. That’s really going to save Kentucky’s economy.

Hey miners! D’ya like what ya got? Could’ve had high-speed internet, community college training and infrastructure, green jobs, healthcare. Now you’ve got nothing.

And now a word from John Prine:

When I was a child my family would travel
Down to Western Kentucky where my parents were born
And there’s a backwards old town that’s often remembered
So many times that my memories are worn
And daddy won’t you take me back to Muhlenberg County
Down by the Green River where Paradise lay
Well, I’m sorry my son, but you’re too late in asking
Mister Peabody’s coal train has hauled it away
Well, sometimes we’d travel right down the Green River
To the abandoned old prison down by Airdrie Hill
Where the air smelled like snakes and we’d shoot with our pistols
But empty pop bottles was all we would kill
Then the coal company came with the world’s largest shovel
And they tortured the timber and stripped all the land
Well, they dug for their coal till the land was forsaken
Then they wrote it all down as the progress of man
When I die let my ashes float down the Green River
Let my soul roll on up to the Rochester dam
I’ll be halfway to Heaven with Paradise waitin’
Just five miles away from wherever I am

There are communities literally across the country doing innovative revitalization projects where economic trends have hurt people and left them behind. They’re not waiting for the feds. But imagine if we had a legitimate administration that was supporting this effort with grants, with demonstration projects, with guidance like the Main Street program that began years ago. Just imagine that. We could have it in two years. But here we’re posturing to save 267 jobs—266 in Kentucky, and one in Washington. Shaking my head.

Oh, you miserable skeptic. Don’t you think it would be worth $1.2 million to preserve each of those low-paying jobs?

Big D can’t even keep a Federal-run coal-fired plant in operation.

Somebody call Ronny Jackson and see if he has any pills to treat political impotence.

Trump is on record that blue-color jobs should be subsidized to the tune of $1.2 million per job, as long as they are highly polluting jobs!
